Jeff State Fall 2010 hopefuls...

Published

I will go ahead and start this post for people applying to Jeff State Nursing Program Fall 2010. I know there are people out there with questions...I know I have a ton myself...I guess we can start with the amounts of points people are applying with with what classes??This should give us an idea of maybe where the cutoff will be...it was like 186 for Summer 2010!

I applied to both the part-time/full- time program as well as the LPN program. I'm also very nervous and waiting on pins and needles for my letter. Although my score was 184, just looking at other posts about what the cutoff points are I'm even more nervous!!!

Even though not sure yet what the cut off points are just the estimated guesses is making me nervous.

I don't think they have lost any accreditation yet, but they are evaluating them. Everything should be ok. Well I am sure that you will get in the program at Jeff St! Only another week!

ONLY another week? LOL. That seems sooooo far away. I feel like we have been waiting a year already. I am anxious to get the info so I know how to plan for my fall.

Same here...I really don't know exactly what to do...and it'll be so rushed because orientation will come shortly after the people find out they got in...

Do you know anything about orientation? What day of the week it is on, time of day, what they do....or anything else you can think of? I really know nothing about what to expect if I find out I am in. I have been flying by the seat of my pants since I got into this and other than having to work my rear end off I have no clue what will take place once letters have been sent. LOL

Haha...I am the same way...didn't even know I was going to apply until about a week before apps were due. I imagine it'll probably be like mid July, but all that I have heard is that it would be in the month ok July. I couldn't imagine what we will be in for other than a lot of hard work.

a friend that started the program this summer said, that at the orientation they basically tried to scare you, by telling you that you need to say good-by to your family and friends because you will be so busy with a mountain of course work, that you will never have time for them.

they say that you should expect that at some point you will have to deal with the fact that you families support for your going to nursing school will wain, when you no longer have time to cooking dinner and doing laundry ect.

when she told me this, it was deeply upsetting to me, since i'm a single parent of 3, ages 8,6,4. Not cooking dinner or doing laundry is not an option in my life. I won't let this stop me from persuing my dream, but i already expected nursing school to be tough, the extra scare tactics are not needed.

she also said that they were given a massive amount of reading to do, though at that point, classes were more than a month away. getting a head start on reading is great, but it meant that she had to send about 1k on textbooks, because her fin aid, was not available yet.

this is 2nd hand info, so take it with a grain of salt. I'm trying to get myself geared up emotionally for the challenge. good luck to everyone, the waiting for the letter is driving me nuts.

I also have heard of some of the scary mean things that they say. I heard how hard and tough and costly the nursing program is just waiting for my letter to arrive so I'll know what steps I need to take for the fall.

Thanks for the info BerniKitty!! I had heard they used scare tactics and that seems like a big fat waste of time. People know it isn't a walk in the park. I don't want to waste my time hearing them harp. I want useful information that will prepare me for the next step in the process. I am not a kid and I hate it when I'm treated like one. I am an adult and I know full well what I am getting into. I have a family but everyone in my house can do laundry and feed themselves. I just need to them to tell me what I have to do to get through this so I can enjoy the rest of my life!! Good luck to everyone!!

hi, i did a search for the orientation for fall 09, and 08. it was july 15 for both years, so we might be able to assume it will be around the same this year.

looks like we are finally coming around the home stretch.

Good going! Sounds like a logical conclusion to me! :)
