January CEP applicants?

U.S.A. Arizona

Hi fellow students! I am applying to the CEP program for the Summer 2016 start (NAU)- I know the deadline is coming up January 30... just wondering who else is applying/has applied, and how you're feeling? Excited to start? Nervous you won't get accepted (like ME!)? Just wanted to say "hi" and get connected!

I applied at Glendale Community College for the NAU / CEP program. I picked traditional as my first choice. I wish I knew what the schedule is going to be like in the summer and the following semesters as well. I guess we'll find out at the end of February. Good luck to you!

Hi I also applied to the program for summer of 2016. The advisor told me that we should know by the end of February. I can't wait to find out. I'm nervous but so excited. I have a 3.6 GPA hesi score of 92 overall. I also have Associates of Arts degree. I hope that is good enough to get me into the program. I am definitely intimidated when I see the dummies at the Glendale Community College lab. But I am also stoked to finally get in and become a nurse. My name is Amy by the way. Good luck to another future nurse!

Hi Amy! Nice to sorta "meet" you. ;) I think your GPA/hesi/degree are great! I bet you get in! I'm with you (nervous/excited). I keep thinking "Do I really WANT this??" now that I am about to "get it." I think I have had blinders on all these months completing the pre-req's.... When/if I get in, I am going to just keep those blinders on and keep plodding along, I do better short-term I think. Not going to think about all the info, and all the semesters and the years...just one day at a time for me.

I can't imagine the summer schedule will be too rough. I applied for weekend for my first choice - I know that is not a popular choice - in fact the advisor I met with told me that traditional is the most popular choice for all of the colleges (I don't know why, but I am surprised about that) - not questioning it too much though because I really want the weekend schedule! Also, I was told the middle of February - not the "end." Well, consistency isn't their strong point?? lol Kidding. Mostly. ;) GL to all!

Hey girls I also came up with a question, what are some essential items we should start to purchase for the program?

Getting your hands on textbooks as soon as you can! Save you lots of money.

Scratch that keep your eyes on textbook prices they go up and down, buy when they are cheap.

Got my potter fundamental book do 20$ and its the most resent edition.

Great thank you! I will just have to figure out what books I need! ;)

Each school uses a few different books but I think the ones that are always the same is potter's fundimentals of nursing, the medical surgical book can't think of the author, a nursing diagnosis book, it's always good to have a drug book, and a nclex rn review book. Those a few off the top of my head.

Personally I say wait until you get accepted somewhere to buy textbooks, because your first choice may not be where you end up. SCC doesn't use potter fundamentals, for example. I just think it's too much of a gamble to start w those as it varies by edition and author. I could see starting to buy a nclex review book and a drug guide by Davis though! [emoji4] I would say keep your eyes out for approved shoes (all black or all white no logos and no perforation to prevent contamination) and you'll want a few pairs of scrubs so see if you can find gals who sell them once they graduate as they usually sell for like 5$ a piece as opposed to 25$ish. Start saving for a decent stethoscope too, the better the stethoscope the easier to hear! I got a littman classic II for 75$ on Amazon and it is miiiiles from what some schools provide! Otherwise enjoy your free time! You will have very little of it once you start lol I look at cleaning my house as taking a break/relaxing now [emoji21]

This sounds good and I imagine is possible as soon as we have acceptance a list of books to buy.

I'm curious about the uniform situation actually. I am not looking forward to uniforms at all (is that strange??).
