January CEP applicants?

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi fellow students! I am applying to the CEP program for the Summer 2016 start (NAU)- I know the deadline is coming up January 30... just wondering who else is applying/has applied, and how you're feeling? Excited to start? Nervous you won't get accepted (like ME!)? Just wanted to say "hi" and get connected!

I had some issues too. Honestly, in hindsight, I think my advisor purposely misled me. At my last advising session she advised that I only needed Pathophysiology to apply for CEP (I really also needed statistics but planned on taking it right now, without any other classes, and when applying to NAU you can have up to 7 credits in progress, etc..). I was *pretty* sure I needed another class. She assured me that my small group communications class I took years and years ago counted twoards the AGEC because the year that I took it it was considered a class in that category - if that makes sense. I asked her three times "ARE YOU SURE??" And she assured me - I only needed Patho. I took patho. Went to apply, and what does she tell me, do you think?? Not only do I need statistics (which I KNEW and planned for) but I also need Chemistry. What?! Good lord, chemistry and statistics?? NOT what I wanted to do. Not what I planned for. Ugh. So annoying. But with chemistry I will have an Associates degree which NAU likes better anyway. But still, I think she knew what she was doing in the last semester. I didn't want to apply to NAU with 7 credits in progress, and I would have taken CHM last semester so I could take stats solo. Anyway, I'm just complaining, but it's really not that big of a deal - just an annoyance. I think she knew I'd take chemistry if I were forced to (I did NOT want to take it and was using my high school CHM). Down to the wire - I am forced to really (I could have taken any SQ class actually). In reality, stats isn't that hard, and my CHM class is WAY more work than I expected (I knew I didn't want to take this class! Grr!!) - and I'd rather be taking CHM solo. Anyway, all that to say that I am not surprised to hear that the advisors make mistakes, no matter how disconcerting it may be - they are human - but jeesh, to have to wait another semester or more to get in, because of an advising mistake?? ANNOYING. Glad you got your issues cleared up! Sorry for my rant. lol.

That stinks! Which school was this advisor at? Which maricopa schools did u put down for preference ?

Specializes in L&D, Trauma, Ortho, Med/Surg.

Well, I'm not one to totally throw someone under the bus - let's just say my first choice is GCC/weekends, GCC evening, GWCC evening, then PV. I'm really hoping for weekend! I'm kind of wishing I had put GW evening has my second after Weekend as my top choice- because I have heard nothing but great experiences coming from Gateway.

Nessa33,

I received an email from one of the universities I had applied to about 2 weeks later and said that they accepted me into their CEP program. I did apply at EMCC as my first choice in Nov. The advisor told me that we would most likely find out this month from both our partnering CEP CC and University. Hope this helps.

But you haven't been placed by maricopa yet right?

Do you happen to remember your time stamp on your application?

Thank you so much that helps out! I really hope I get into EMCC. I live in Surprise and the drive would be a breeze! Is the nursing website still down? It has been down for several months now. Anyway GL to you! Let us know if you get in.

Well I hope my issues have been cleared up! I really have a feeling that my application was lost. Gosh but that really does stink. Even though its only a semester, a semester is so long when you want to hurry up and get started. Students before had one specific date to turn in their application and they heard back within 2 weeks. Hopefully we hear back soon because I can not wait any longer. So anxious!

Mine is 08/06/15 8:00:54. On some of the other forums i have read, It seems like everyone who had gotten placed for spring 2015 had time stamps of Feb. 2015. Are you doing the CEP route or are you sticking to just the AA route?

I live in Goodyear! :) Just checked and it is still down. I hope I get into EMCC too! From other nursing students commenting, it seems like a really small campus. My number 2 choice is GCC and then GWCC. I could not imagine the drive to clinical's though if I got placed at GWCC. Good luck to you too! I will let you guys know anything.

When I applied it was just for the regular ADN route. I just recently found out about the CEP from another thread and I'm going next week to see if I can apply. If I start in the fall in just regular ADN tho, I'm going to go.

And also I applied in September 2015 but for some reason my time stamp didn't happen until December 2015
