January 2014 Broward College

Published

Welcome.... This is a thread created for January 2014 Broward College students and others who are interested in there ADN program. We all have so many questions and concerns about the program.

We are 7-8 months away from sitting in the first class of the January 2014 nursing program. What have you been doing to prepare for this? What pre-req's do you have left to take? What inspired you to become a nurse? Is BC your first school of chose? Are there any other programs your interested in?

Don't be shy. Don't lurk. Share your thoughts.

FYI ---- for central process I clinical my instructor emailed me this "Dress in full scrubs and exactly what is on the dress code for a hospital clinical day in the syllabus. Reading is per your theory instructor. I will send out a group email as I get further info."

I am attending north campus..anyone else? I am beyond excited to start next week

Yes I'm excited, & nervous all at the same time. Just wanted to say for those of you who haven't started reading yet. Get to it. One of the chapters I just read was 60 pages. I thought I would never finish. Thank God I did and stay ahead of the game especially in reading.

Yes, chapter 30 is a mountain but we can get through this. Has anyone started studying the formulas for pharmacology?

I just back in to town from vacation for the holidays. I got my welcome letter for Nursing process 1 stating that they want 5 chapters read before class even starts. I have read 2 out of the 5 chapters. I also have the Perry & Potter 7th edition and not the 8th. Do you think it really matters if we study from the 7th edition versus the 8th? I also noticed that we have to do a head to toe physical in which I do not know where to start. I have never done one before. Is there a place we can go at our campus that will help us if we need it? I'm going to South Campus. This welcome letter is kind of confusing do we need to complete it all before our clinical on Tuesday? Thank you for any help. I am going to get the rest of my books on Friday. I am waiting for the bookstore to open back up.

I believe your physical needs to be completed before your first clinical and a copy needs to be in your portfolio

For those of you that are at Central, on Professor MB blog, she states that clinical on Tuesday, January 7th is @0800 in room 153. She also gives instructions on the portfolio. Check out her blog (google it).;)

Is the same for all clinical instructors? Like does everyone meet in the same place at the same time? Because I have LB for lab and MB for lecture. I emailed both of them and they never got back to me.

Hi seraphina, I'm unsure if it's the same for all instructors. I also have Professor MB for lecture and a different instructor for clinical, but the clinical instructor said that the two classes are following the same chapters. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the heads up !!
