Welcome.... This is a thread created for January 2014 Broward College students and others who are interested in there ADN program. We all have so many questions and concerns about the program.

We are 7-8 months away from sitting in the first class of the January 2014 nursing program. What have you been doing to prepare for this? What pre-req's do you have left to take? What inspired you to become a nurse? Is BC your first school of chose? Are there any other programs your interested in?

Don't be shy. Don't lurk. Share your thoughts.

What has everyone's experience been like so far??? Please drop in and inform us if you can find the time to!!!

We just finished return demo #1 today. Pretty stressful. The program it's self isn't hard. Just tons of reading, hw, and lab hours.

You're going to hear it a lot, but READ READ READ. If you know that you're going to start in may buy the fundamentals book 8th edition now

i'm from North :)

For the people starting in the summer I really recommend reading ahead . Don't wait till your first day to start studying because the program is very fast paced as it is and winter term is longer than summer so I can imagine how much faster it'll be in the summer , the material so far in not complicated. Keep in mind I'm only in process 1 but its a lot of info all at once so it makes its difficult to balance. But it's not impossible, at the end of the day it comes down to how bad you want it and how hard your willing to study to achieve your goal. Overall i am very pleased with the program. I dont have anything negative to say. Good luck guys !

Completely agree! I'm in process 1 at south. Please read ahead. Especially on vital signs and physical assessment. And please don't be ever be late. if you're the type to sleep through alarm clocks I would try to fix that issue now especially if you're going to south. When you start the program get as many lab hours as you can. Do not aim for the minimum, get as much practice as you can on vitals, physical assessment and skills!!! So far I'm getting through the program with a B in process 1 I'm so glad I read ahead. 3 more weeks till process 1 is over!!!! :) p.s. Practice answering critical thinking questions now!!! It will save you on the exam!!!

Thank you guys for your responses!!! It's comforting to hear positive things! What book should I read? The Perry Potter or something like that right? lol

I go to central and our process theory exams come out the fundamentals of nursing book, I would recommend finding out what chapters each exam will cover based on your campus and start reading, and like the person before me said practice doing critical thinking questions. At the end of every chapter there's review questions. Do them! They really help prepare you for exams. The questions are very similar to the format of our tests.

Processing 1 ends on Friday.

hello. I go to central and will be starting my first rotation :) The topic for test exam for process 2 includes chapters 31- medication, 10-14 (developmental), 37, 38, 44-nutrition, 32-alternatives medicines. I forgot what chapters 37 and 38. I think its about skin integrity and I forgot the other topic, but its chapters 37 and 38. Hope that helps.
