Welcome.... This is a thread created for January 2014 Broward College students and others who are interested in there ADN program. We all have so many questions and concerns about the program.

We are 7-8 months away from sitting in the first class of the January 2014 nursing program. What have you been doing to prepare for this? What pre-req's do you have left to take? What inspired you to become a nurse? Is BC your first school of chose? Are there any other programs your interested in?

Don't be shy. Don't lurk. Share your thoughts.

Hi! I have a question for students currently in the program.

I want to know if it would be okay for me to buy the kindle version of some of the text books, such as the Fundamentals of Nursing book. I have the Kindle app on my iPad and I enjoy using it.

Do the professors care about having electronic devices such as iPads in the room? I wouldn't want to get the kindle version & not even be able to use it =/

No, the program does not support or allow any electronic devices whatsoever. Buy the books, and not the text. Also, recording is not allowed as well. Good luck.

Just wanted to chime in that this really isn't true at all. It depends on your teacher, and it's up to their discretion. Recording is allowed IF they give you permission.

I used electronic textbooks for all classes except my specialties (peds/OB/psych), because I couldn't find electronic versions of those books. I used Pageburst on my Macbook and loved it. I just graduated in December, and went through the program without failing a class.

That said...electronic books aren't for everyone, but they're allowed in the program, at least at Central they were.

I forgot to mention on the previous post, that this is directed to South campus.

BCMurse congrats!

Okay thank you BCMurse & Getting To Great for the information! :)

I'm trying to decide between Central & North. Good to know that there is some leniency with the no electronics rule!

Also, if there is anyone at North on here... who is the new Professor for Process 1? I read that the old one, her name starts with a 'G' I believe, is gone now. I saw that she was a really good professor. Are there new professors & are they just as good?

Every instructor has their own rules my process one was okay with electronics but process 2 instructor does not allow it so I would recommend getting the text to play it safe

I'm at North and for process 1&2 we were allowed to record. Definitely depends on the teacher. Pharmacology, not allowed.

Hey guys I applied for the May start date and my status just changed to per admisission, can any of you in the program already clarify what this means for me? Thanks!!!!

That's a good thing!!! It won't change to admitted until after you attend orientation and secure your seat by submitting all of your paperwork, physical, background check, etc. Keep checking your email!
