Welcome.... This is a thread created for January 2014 Broward College students and others who are interested in there ADN program. We all have so many questions and concerns about the program.
We are 7-8 months away from sitting in the first class of the January 2014 nursing program. What have you been doing to prepare for this? What pre-req's do you have left to take? What inspired you to become a nurse? Is BC your first school of chose? Are there any other programs your interested in?
i have one on my finger; will use band aid for now and will probably eventually remove. one on my wrist but will wear long sleeves. are the long sleeves sold in the bookstore?
Also "south campus students". Did your professor change your MTB1370 class from Thurs to Friday? how many uniforms did you buy?
You must be talking CQ. I'm taking LH for math and his math class was Friday from the beginning. I got 3 bottom scrub and 3 tops. And 2 polo shirts. Where could I get a good pair of shoes for clinicals and such? All the white sneakers I have, have brand markings on them so I guess that's inappropriate ??
Hello everyone. Good luck to all and welcome to broward. I started fall at broward and wanted to transfer to miami dade college. I passed process 1 and process 2 lab, but not sure about the theory though. Read the perry potter book before you start. Our first process 1 exam is 7 chapters and it's cumulative of 30 chapters on the first half of the semester. Practice ratio and proportion. It's not hard just need to take your time in answering them. We started 50, now we're down to 33 in our theory, but at least 10 failed math so they need to retract for lab. Out of 23 in tract we still don't know how many of us will pass theory... It's tough program don't fall behind on your reading.
i know the dean said that the white shoes cant have logos such as "Nike" but what if the logos are white and blend in with the shoe?
Honestly, I've had my shoes this whole time. They have a small logo. In truth, nobody really watched my shoes to make sure there were no logos. Unless you wear nursing shoes you'll have a logo.
Nurses Mates have a small blue heart on them. I've seen those being worn. I bought a pair of shoes from all heart $20. I was skeptical because they were so cheap however the shoes have great reviews & I like them. Also Allwear is a brand I use as well. I never saw the Allwear ($30) with a complete cover shoe until the other day. I would of bought those instead. I use gels in them for extra comfort since I'm a bit flat footed.
I'm thinking of 4 uniforms I was going to start with 3. IDK...

Are you at Central? I also started in the fall at Central and it really sucks to see so many people retrack. There were a couple of times where I doubted myself if I could make it through this first semester as I had failed the math for Process 2 and return demo 2 the first time, but passed on my 2nd try for both.
Seeing this thread brings back many memories before I started the program here at BC. I was so enthusiastic about starting the program, but let me tell you, I was broken down after that first week of school as it is a culture shock lol. Just be sure to read, read and do more reading on that Perry and Potter book.
Anyways, got to go back to reading for this 3rd exam in Process 2 this Friday and then the dreaded cumulative final the following Monday, fml.
