Welcome.... This is a thread created for January 2014 Broward College students and others who are interested in there ADN program. We all have so many questions and concerns about the program.
We are 7-8 months away from sitting in the first class of the January 2014 nursing program. What have you been doing to prepare for this? What pre-req's do you have left to take? What inspired you to become a nurse? Is BC your first school of chose? Are there any other programs your interested in?

The reason why I mentioned waiting is because you will not be buying ALL of the books on that list. For the first semester we bought the Perry and Potter textbook, Clinical skills, and the Castillo book which we used 2x and never again. The lab diagnostic book, drug guide, and fluids and electrolytes made easy book. We never used Tabers or the Pharm book with K. I never used the pharm book, spent $80, tried to resell it, and they wanted to give me $7 for it.

I did NOT purchase the pharmacology book because apparently WJ goes by his power points and blue prints.. my friend is in the program at south and told me what books I will need. And pharmacology was not one of them. I also purchased some books like the Saunders NCLEX review so I can start practicing NCLEX style questions. I'd rather just be prepared. I got the books for a bargain. I didn't purchase them at the book store. They were cheap on my end. :)
