ixchel's 8/15 This Week I Have Learned...

Published

I have learned that I seem to be the "Go To" when my AN friends are butt tired and need a post posted...and I like that.

I've learned that I miss the girls (and guy) on the School Nurse Forum.

I've learned that tomatoes are hardy.

I've learned that tears help sometimes.

I've learned that my mom is one of the strongest people I know.

Hmmm, I haven't learned much, but the week is still young.

I'm sure ixchel will check in. No worries. In the meantime...What have you learned this week?

My gums are bad, and I'm only 23 :( I've always brushed 2x a day, flossed, gone to the dentist. I don't understand it, but now I go to the dentist every 4 months. So expensive.

Is it just me or do other people feel like dental cleaning should be more often?

Probably! Apparently most of the American population has gum disease and is completely unaware. I think dental should be covered under regular healthcare insurance vs separate dental insurance. Your oral health is important, and my dental insurance will only cover the basic cleaning.

I don't know why dental insurances think every 6 months is good enough for a dental cleaning. They need to realize where the teeth are & what they are close to (ears, eyes & most importantly the BRAIN!).

I'm one of those people that brush twice a day, floss after every meal, mouthwash, cleaning every 6 months... and my teeth still crumble away. I've had so many dental treatments I could have had all my teeth pulled and pretty new implants put in but the dentists refuse. :sour:

You are going to hate me. I once waited 13 years to go to the dentist and had no cavities!

That's how my brother is, too. No fair.

Ood, did your dentist give you a fluoride toothpaste? I used it for a month, ran out, almost reordered but then found out it was $27 a tube

I would hate you, but I like you too much *shrugs*

No, but they do give me a special mouthwash that tastes horrible and is *drumroll* $20 a bottle WITH INSURANCE.

Something is on fire somewhere.

I smell burning tumbleweeds.

I should probably investigate.

This sounds like a scary movie.

Tumbleweeds are creepy.

There was an "Outer Limits" episode about alien-possessed tumbleweeds.

It was creepy. Of course, I WAS only 6 or 7 when I first watched it.

But tumbleweeds are still creepy. 😱

This sounds like a scary movie.

Ood?

I don't know where it was. It wasn't directly around my house so I went to bed. People like to burn at night thinking they won't be found out

Today I was asked by a CI if I would mind taking some time today to talk to her students about Hospice, since they get absolutely no exposure to it in school.

Would I?? Is the Pope a bear?? **

This fulfills two things within me: 1. I love to teach. 2. Anything I can do to educate anyone in health care about Hospice-I'm in.

**Married With Children reference. If you don't get it, just ask lol.
