I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

I'm going to get my health care provider CPR certificate tomorrow, wish me luck! (can you fail the CPR class?):lol2:

good luck!:anpom: i am getting ready to take care of that too. when you finish, can you come tell us how it was? thanks.

p.s. i know teenagers who took cpr classes, so you should be fine!!!!

do any of you know what is the lowest score that gary will accept for rn or lpn? i'm worried about my total score. :crying2:

wow! it is awesome to see someone else waiting for gary. i don't feel so alone.:aln: i heard they were not sending out acceptance letters until november because they were trying to increase their staff so that they could accept more people. so let's just pray all this waiting is not in vain.:anbd:

as far as scores, well, you never know. it all boils down to what kind of scores people applied with. i only applied for rn program. my total score is 207. i received an acceptance letter from the valpo campus, so that gives me hope about gary. i really want to go to gary. i have heard that it is much easier to get into lpn than rn. there were many people that were taking pre-reqs that were unable to pass the teas.but you never know what that bottom score is going to be. what was your score you applied with?

there should be a special award for you nessa. the award for having the most patience!

:anbd:

:yelclap:thank you, thank you.:yelclap: i would like to thank my family for not mentioning the g word, (gary):angryfire. i would like to thank all of you guys for your support (amazing), and finally i would like to thank the mailman for keeping a safe distance from me:lol_hitti.

no seriously, i am anything but patient.:sfxpld:

It was me....I told you I was going to email you. Are you going to email me back? Sorry, I didnt think I sent anything weird to make you paranoid or anything. I thought you would remember what we talked about.

Stedmans came in our package "deal" if you wanna call it that. I found our 11 pound Med Surg book online for 3 bucks but I already had to buy the package at the bookstore.

I was more than a little miffed at that. We were basically forced to buy the package because they told us we had to have the Taylor CDs and they only came in the package deal. Couldn't buy them online or seperately.

After I bought all my books, I found the CDs online for like 15 bucks.

Oh well....nothing can be done about it now.

And I just went off on a tangent. LOL

Anyhow, to answer your question....Yeah, we have Stedmans. Honestly, I've never even opened it. I just look stuff up online.

It has been slow on this thread for a while now. I wanted to ask about the required textbooks. I went to the fall 08 orientation (Lawrence) where they said you had to buy the textbooks from the bookstore because it was bundled. I thought they said it was the "Calculation of Drug Dosages" that wasn't available except in the bundle. Indymom you said it was the cd set, I probably took a bad note.

I am all about saving money. I know a girl who went a couple of weeks to New Castle a year ago before she quit. I could buy her books, which would help both of us. Can anybody say that I shouldn't do that? Thanks.

Each campus uses different books, so it's probably not wise to buy her books unless you're absolutely sure they are the same as the Lawrence campus. There are still books you will need to buy that aren't in the bundle in the future. For ex: the OB and Peds books, you need to buy separately.

This was a good question! My friend just graduated from Lawrence Campus this summer and I wanted to buy her books as well. It sounds like they should probably be ok...but I think I will wait until orientation to get the exact list before I buy.:typing

They will give you a list at Orientation after you are accepted. The Dosage Calc book, I'm sure you can get but it comes with an online course that our instructors designed. Or helped design. Or something that that. At any rate, I never even used the online part. The book works just fine. Some people have said that it helped them though, so really it just depends on the person and how they learn best.

The books in the bundle are 700 something dollars, and then like someone else said, in later semesters we will have to buy the OB/Peds book and I think one other.

You will most definitely use all the books in the bundle though, so only buy seperately if you can find every book they require. The Taylor CD set is fantastic for skills check offs. I watch them over and over now that we have check offs every week.

We have our midterm in Med/Surg on Monday and everyone is pretty freaked out right now. I'm just trying to stay afloat. Definetely very stressful, but I'm learning sooooo much and my classmates, instructors, etc are all pretty awesome. We have zero hostility in our group and after reading these boards, I'm thanking my lucky stars.

Whoever ends up at the Indy campus, I think you will really enjoy it.
