Ivy Tech Thread

Published

I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

I hope you Gary Ivy Tech get your letters soon. I waited forever from the Terre Haute campus. It doesn't leave a lot of time to get things done. I still have to do the cpr certification which is scheduled for the middle of July. The suggestion they gave in their letter was actually cheaper than the Red Cross! We had to make an appointment to be registered and they did it...you received the hours they gave you. Luckily mine were good and I will still be able to work part time.:D

Still no word from Gary. Hopefully the mailman will bring me something good this week!

Hello all and congrats to those that have gotten in!

I am starting the RN program out of the Fort Wayne Campus. Any others here that is also going to the FW campus?

This year the school has changed scrub colors so we do not know what they will be yet. Last year it was a seafoam green. Hopefully this year it will be something not so gender specific as well. After all I am guy.

I wonder if the books we use are the same from campus to campus?

Would it not be cool to form a study group for the classes? Sort of an online or on the phone thing where we help each other?

I have always done that with students in person and it has helped me with my 4.0 GPA after taking 28 credits in 2 semesters. Of course it also helps that I love learning and studying the human body.

So congrats to ALL!:yeah:

Can anyone tell me what your Ivy Tech schedule is like for just the nursing classes? If/when I get accepted I will already have all of the co requisites. I have NO idea what a weekly schedule is going to be like though. Days of the week, hours, etc. Help? Just trying to figure out if having a young child and going to nursing school is feasible! Are any of their classes online? I know a few of the IUPUI nursing classes were, but I wasn't sure about ivy tech. Thanks (again!)

I just graduated from Indy in May from the ASN program so I thought I'd tell you what I know...

First and foremost.... The most important thing I can tell you is to just go with the flow. You will be very busy and at times it will seem like the program is not organized very well, but they do a great job of doing what they can. You wont know your schedule very far in advance and this is due to hospital scheduling. There are so many nursing students out there from all the different programs that it can be difficult to line up clinicals and observations, but you'll get through it! Even lecture schedules can change week to week sometimes. Clinicals are either once a week or twice a week depending on whats available. Sometimes one clinical group might be twice a week and the another might only go once a week, but longer hours. So....like I said....you just need to be flexible and get used to the changing schedule. It's all worth it in the end. One more thing....after pharmacology you're class/clinical schedule will be lighter, but they'll make up for it with papers, observation experiences, and group projects. So embrace it for what it is.

Good luck everyone!!

Thanks for the heads up! I was just accepted to Indy for Fall and have been wondering what it's like over there.

Indy...is your schedule showing up yet? Mine isn't :sniff:

Not yet but this is what I do every hour.... :typing

I take it back. I just checked again and they are now posted!! I didn't get my evening clinical though =(

I just checked the schedule they posted for me and there are time conflicts....guess I'm gonna have to call them. The've scheduld my pharm class on wednesdays from 8-10:50 but I have Fundamentals lab at that same time on Wednesdays. Med Surg lab is the same. How are we supposed to be in two different classes at the same time with different instructors? Pharm is all 16 weeks.....but that time spot is taken by Fundamentals the first 5 weeks, and Med Surg the last 11 weeks. WTH.

Mine still isn't there. Are you seeing yours on that new version, where you have to click fall o8, then a bunch of other stuff to get to it? I hate this new version, the old one was so easy, now if I don't see what I'm looking for, I wonder if it's not there, or if something is wrong with the system :crying2:

I clicked Fall 08, then Student and Financial Aid, then Registration, Student Detail Schedule, then Fall 08 on the drop down menu.

:crying2::crying2::crying2::angryfire NOT THERE!!! lol
