Ivy Tech Spring '10 Nursing Program Students

U.S.A. Indiana

Hey guys here is a new thread, now that we've started the program and aren't 'hopefuls' anymore!!

Did the powerpoints for the Nutrition lecture ever get posted to blackboard? I haven't checked yet.

You will have lecture together--you either have A1 lecture or B1 lecture. All A1 lecture people have an A clinical and the B lectures have a B clinical.

Oh I see, well I'm pretty sure I'm a B....anyone else???

So how is everyone enjoying the break? I have not done much so far but just relax, although I have taken a few walks for exercise. Looking forward to class starting for summer. I am having trouble accessing blackboard though, it keeps telling me something is wacky with that site's security certificate.

Hope you all are having a nice break!

This break could not have come too soon!!

Break has been great---Just got back from Disney! I'm excited for summer classes, but nervous too--I just don't know what to expect. I just wish I knew what hospital I was going to---I wonder when they'll tell us. Is anyone else waiting to know their clinical location?? I'm such a planner and I always need to know what's going on, so it just makes me crazy to not even know where I'm going to be! Does anyone know what book(s) we need for OB/Peds? I'm hesitant to just buy something, but I want to have something before the first week of classes b/c I don't buy from the bookstore (I buy from Amazon). The bookstore online shows the book, but I just wonder if that's really the one we need....after the book disaster of first semester, I'm just trying to cover all my bases!

So who has orientation on Monday at 8 in room 214?? I want to know who to look for so I don't have to sit solo!

I will be there.

did you guys read about the new way they are going to start doing admissions points? Interesting. Not for the people applying for Spring 2011, but for anything after that. No more region points; points for the APHYs will be weighted heavier than the psych and Engl points; and there is a new TEAS and they will not use the adjusted individual total score but will use the subcategory scores to add in to the points total. Plus people have to get a level rating of proficient, advanced, or exemplary on the new TEAS to even be eligible to apply.

I wonder when they are going to announce who the new Dean is. Supposedly we were going to get an email today or very soon.

I suppose the weighting of the points won't make a difference, for Indy anyway. A 4.0 is a 4.0.. Right?? Or am I misunderstanding something? In the less competitive areas I am sure it could make a difference for some. I like that they have dropped the area points, although that may hurt some local students in less competitive areas. I know plenty of Indy students may be willing to drive wherever it takes. While it increases the quality of the student, it may not follow what a community college is supposed to be about. Hmm, should be interesting to see the feedback on this for sure!

Can you guys believe that it has been a year?

Nope.

And did you really post at 12:09 AM???

Yes... I was working on our objectives for the project :) OK, that's a lie, I was playing on the XBox! LOL
