Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Waiting on THE letter

Published

I've been reading "allnurses" for several years, never thinking I'd reach this point. So, I never registered. However, after 2-years of night classes the dream of nursing might become a reality. Now, the wait for acceptance/denial begins. It's all come to this point for many of us.

Several years ago there was a forum where people were waiting on THE letter. Why not have one for the folks waiting on 2011? If there IS one I missed it.

We're all in the same boat, all waiting on the letter, and wondering if there was a minor detail overlooked. Was the score high enough? Did my transcript fall through the folder, then get swept under the desk? (That one woke me up last night) In my case, my brain can handle the wait...my stomach/intestines are not doing so well.

Thought this might be a nice thread to vent, support, and otherwise worry with each other for the next couple of months. Near as I can tell, it's going to be 74 days, give or take, before we all know....one way or the other.

Best of luck and keep prayin' I know I am! :)

I know this is for Ivy Tech, but I am waiting on my IUPUI acceptance letter and I am over the wait. I got denied with a 3.6 the first time I applied.. now I have a 3.9 so if I am denied, I guess they only want 4.0's. LOL Congrats on all who got in.

:twocents:You're correct in that IUPUI is very competitive. I was going to IUPUC (IUPUI-Columbus) and did most of my pre-reqs there. I took a "How to Succeed in Nursing" class, and it was there that I decided to go to Ivy Tech for my associates instead of my bachelors. (I can get my masters without having a bachelors, as I found out in this class, which is what I will be doing.)

Back to the program though, I was told at IUPUC that to even be considered I would have to have straight A's, which wasn't a problem for me, but I found that to be a bit ludicrous. I mean, a 3.6 will get a person into a physician's program, but not in nursing? I suppose, though, that it is the students' fault because we are the ones who set such a high, competitive standard for the program. If none of us made good grades, then they would have to accept everyone based upon the interviews, right?

I couldn't agree more. I could go take a few more classes take the MCATS and go to medical school. I want to be a nurse though so I am holding out and I have a few scholarships that won't transfer. I have done my very best so we will see in a week or two. Did you get into Ivy Tech Nursing program?

I haven't heard anything, yet. I hope I did, lol! I have very mixed feelings about this whole ordeal. I guess that everyone does though. People are always going to second guess themselves until they are in the midst of it all. I hope you get in to your program!! I have thought the very same thing about the MCATS. Ultimately, though, I want to do research (schwann cells and multiple sclerosis), and I will have a better go of it if I get my nursing degree, as the nurses are the majority of the people who write and monitor the medical journals. (Isn't it funny how that works?:smackingf) Good luck! Keep us informed as to whether or not you got in! I think we will all need -----> once it's all said and done.

Hello all and congrats to those who have made it so far!!

Has anyone heard anything from Terre Haute?

Seems Kokomo got things done fairly quickly, I've not heard about Terre Haute. Checked the mailbox at lunch....nothing from Anderson or Indy, either. (My mailman was joking with me and said she would write "accepted" on the envelope when it came....not funny)

To meet the May 30th "deadline" there should be a lot of letters next week. I think the 30th is a holiday, though, so the campus will be closed...:lol2:

I'm cool either way, but just want to KNOW!

At my school they base oit on the hessi score and a point system that maxes out at 40. i got a 85% on my hessi and a total of 27 points. also my gpa was 3.8. im still unsure if i made it. at my interview with the director one moment she would talk to me like " i need all this in 2 weeks before, class starts so u will be complete then she would say so im sending out letters and hopefully youre in. i was so confused at the end i dont know if i made it or not ! why does everything in nursing have to be so complicated !!! geesh ! so like everyone else im on pins and needles !:confused::confused::confused::confused:

@ kam2011

Hear, hear!!

My mail runs early. No letters today!

Has anyone applied to the Sellersburg campus? And is there really a deadline to reply to the letters? I've been checking every day and still nothing :crying2: I'm about to call the school to see if they've even sent them out. And I have all A's in my prerequisites and got a 92.7% on my TEAS. Good luck to everyone else! :nurse:
