Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Waiting on THE letter

Published

I've been reading "allnurses" for several years, never thinking I'd reach this point. So, I never registered. However, after 2-years of night classes the dream of nursing might become a reality. Now, the wait for acceptance/denial begins. It's all come to this point for many of us.

Several years ago there was a forum where people were waiting on THE letter. Why not have one for the folks waiting on 2011? If there IS one I missed it.

We're all in the same boat, all waiting on the letter, and wondering if there was a minor detail overlooked. Was the score high enough? Did my transcript fall through the folder, then get swept under the desk? (That one woke me up last night) In my case, my brain can handle the wait...my stomach/intestines are not doing so well.

Thought this might be a nice thread to vent, support, and otherwise worry with each other for the next couple of months. Near as I can tell, it's going to be 74 days, give or take, before we all know....one way or the other.

Best of luck and keep prayin' I know I am! :)

Well, the good news...got the Indy letter today. Strike 2. Didn't get in. It's up to Anderson, which was my first choice anyway. Good luck today!

I got in at Indy with a 180.3. I am waiting for a letter from IUPUI and if I get in there, I will be giving up my seat. Anyone that is an alternate...keep your fingers crossed I get into the ABSN program! :yelclap:

I am going to be an RN one way or another!! YAY!

Good luck to all those still waiting!

I got accepted to Indy with my 176. I am turning down Bloomington... so an ASN spot will open up there. Good Luck to all of those waiting!!!

Well I can see by the scores that I did not get into Indy but didn't get my letter today.

i received my letter from indy today and again another rejection! i got all a's in the rest of my classes, made the dean's list, but didn't do well on the teas test. i see now where that's getting me......nowhere! plus, i cannot take the teas test again until 3/2013 so i'm screwed, not to mentioned extremely discouraged! :(:( :smackingf :banghead:

congratulations to those of you that have made it into the program. i wish you all the luck in the world and just think soon, you'll have the rn after your name!

jmm5416 - i applied for both rn and lpn.

Well, a tree collapsed on our driveway and my man's car last night in the storms :( BUT on the bright side, I just got my letter of acceptance from Indy for the ASN this fall!!!! I seriously had already mapped out what I would take this summer and fall in case I didn't get in. I opened it at the mailbox and was so excited I could've cried...even standing next to the giant collapsed tree!

I had a 91% on my first/only TEAS attempt, 2 A's and 2 B's--the B's were from PSYC and ENGL, which I took as a freshman at Purdue (when I was stupid and didn't care about my grades). I figured I could give it a shot without having to retake two classes to fix my 2 B's, and I did it! So yes: To all those naysayers who claim you can't get in unless you have all A's--it's not true! Don't let that stop anyone.

I have my Bachelor's degree in Public Health from Purdue University, and I'm currently working and doing classes while trying to become an RN on top of my current degree. Eventually I plan on going on to get my BSN and potentially become a nurse practitioner down the road. I figure the combo of a Public Health degree and being an RN would be perfect.

So excited. To all those who made it, congrats--and to those who didn't, don't let up hope...just keep up the hard work, you're doing awesome so far! We all know this is difficult, trying to balance school, work, and our lives. Just keep it up and try again this spring. Good luck!

katmolitor-- I also have a Bachelors from PU... in Management. When were you at PU??

Got the Indy letter today! Woot woot!!!! ASN, here I come!!!!!!!

:clpty::clpty:

Also, umm, I just got done reading the rest of the letter. Does anyone know how much the lab fees we have to pay on 6/21 are gonna be?

I just called. She said to expect to have to pay about $100.

@jmm5416: I started at Purdue in 2004 after high school, and graduated in 2008.

I'm so over the waiting...I should get back in the gym and get my mind off of everything. I am just concerned about all the requirements before starting i.e. shot records etc. I am also beginning to question my decision to only apply to LPN-mainly due to my fear of not being able to pass Math 136 and ruining getting in at all- cause from the scores I have seen so far...I would have gotten accepted into ASN. :crying2: BUT...I will be ecstatic to get into the LPN as well...I can always do the transition later. I have most of my coreqs out of the way...just need that nasty 4 letter word...MATH
