Ivy Tech Fall 2011

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

HI! I know that I am not the only one out there working on prereqs to get into the nursing program at Ivy Tech. This thread will be for the Fall 2011 applicants *applying next April! We will get there!!!!

I am now working on APY 101 and Psy 101 this summer online. They are tough, but I am holding my own! A few more weeks. Anyone else out there?

I think you're right Anna. I would be so upset to miss the cutoff by a few points and know that I could have taken it one more time and improved my score. Like Wannabanrnin 2012 said, maybe I can squeeze out a few extra points.. I think I will review the study guide one more time and atleast try for a higher score. $40 to retake the test isn't a lot of money in the long run... Thanks for the input guys!

Btw, just so everyone knows...

If you're looking to schedule your TEAS exam, make sure you do so at least 4 or 5 days in advance. I just tried to sign myself up to take the exam tomorrow, but 'twas to no avail because the system wouldn't allow it :nuke:. So, just to avoid feelings of annoyance and frustration like the ones I'm feeling right now, I would highly recommend making sure that you sign up early enough lol

So, I took the TEAS today. Here's my breakdown:

Reading: 88.1*.25 =22.025

Math: 100*.2=20

Science: 85.4*.3=25.62

English: 93.3*.25=23.325

=90.97 for TEAS

plus all A's for prereqs= 180.97.

I was actually really surprised at how much more difficult the reading section was for me this round:uhoh21:. On the TEAS IV I scored a 97.5 on it, so my score dropped by 9.4 pts. Yikes. Also, it would figure that the one section I rocked on was the one that counted the least lol

^ That's still an awesome score, if I were you I wouldn't be worried. I got into Lafayette's RN program last year with all As and an 85 on the TEAS!

Awesome job, wannabeanrn!!!! I am sure you are so happy! I still haven't decided whether to take it again or not? I am working on my application for IUPUI's ABSN program right now...it is due March 15th. You have to submit an essay and it has really gotten me thinking about my ultimate professional goals. Anyone else want to go back after their ASN/BSN and get a Masters?

I'm wanting to, yeah :) That's the whole reason I'm taking some of the classes right now that I am (like Calc II)--so that I can be the most competitive and marketable candidate for a CRNA Master's program that I can be. Also, secretly, I dream of one day getting my PhD lol. I just kinda figure that if I'd be able and willing to get through a Master's program, why not go all the way with it to become a bona fide Dr. Nurse? Someday. Someday faraway.

What are you wanting to get your Master's in, ace?

What are you wanting to get your Master's in, ace?

I haven't 100% decided...I want to see which clinical areas I have the most interest in. I love teaching and the thought of research studies sounds really interesting to me which is along the lines of a Clinical Nurse Specialist, I think.

There are so many specialties and certifications you can get...it sometimes boggles my mind!:uhoh3:

so, i turned in my application today. now it's just a waiting game of 3.5 months.

Mine's in too...decided not to retake the TEAS. Now just the wait

Have you guys heard that there is no PN program this fall at Indy. There is just ASN and they are accepting more than normal for the RN program. I am sure that tthat makes a lot of people feel good and more confident about their chances. They are participating in a simulation study in which all the students will be in groups of either

When I applied in Indy yesterday they gave me the information sheet about the simulations. I really don't think it sounds that bad. It says we can opt out of the higher simulation groups if we're not happy with the progress. If they are accepting more RN applicants because of the simulations....sounds great to me! I'd attend class in a tent by the river to get into the program....:)
