Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)
I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.
I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.
So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.
On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.
I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.
About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!
Thanks! Chemistry was NOT my jam in high school. I think I got a D so I was really trying to avoid it... however i have learned a lot about myself throughout this pre req journey, I managed to get an A in Quantitative Reasoning over the summer and that was with selling and buying a house, a surgery, and my husband being gone for work . So I keep telling myself if I could pull that off I can do anything. And math was my absolute WORST subject ever. 3 more pre reqs! Almost there, almost there....
It's going to be a bit tough if you aren't decent at chem. I took it online and it was ok. A lot of work was required but the class wasn't impossible. I imagine you will be ok.
I'll just keep telling myself that I will be okay because there was just no way to work in micro right now :/ things are crazy to say the least

Micro has been the hardest class I have taken in Lawrence by far. We had 150 point exams. 30 points we're term matching and the other 120 points were essay style questions. Lab was pretty typical lab exams aside from the fact that the majority of the lab exam required some for of elaboration to get full points. Advance physiology is easier than intro to microbiology at the Lawrence campus.
Just finished my LAST proctored exam for this program (!!!) -- the ATI comp predictor -- with a 99% chance of passing NCLEX first time.
I will freaking take it! Lol.
Man, what a relief to be done with those. On one hand... it feels like we were discussing my TEAS score not that long ago ~ on the other hand... it feels like a lifetime ago.

Awesome news. I took my second predictor and got a 98% chance of passing the first try. I have heard ati is harder than the actual nclex as well and I am hoping to schedule my exam for early January. For those graduating this fall, take your nclex before April because the test plan is changing and could be way different from the one you were taught from.

Congratulations!!!!! I'm so so happy to hear this especially with how long you have been commenting on this thread!!
Btw what was that TEAS app called? I JUST saw you mention it when I went way back in the thread but now of course I cannot remember. Was it just TEAS prep??

Thanks! :)
It's called TEAS Mastery.
Same company makes one called NCLEX-RN and I love that one, too. I've used it to cram in questions before exams and I definitely feel like it helps with my overall understanding of things.

I haven't heard that before -- but I sure hope it's true! I was wondering how it compares. And whether their predictions are accurate. Congrats on your 98% -- sounds like things are going well, and glad to hear it!
My hero!Thank you again for this thread and updating us all the time! It makes it feel so much more reachable!!!
Haha, I don't know about hero... but that made me smile this morning. :) Thank you & you're welcome.
I haven't thought much about this thread lately, but in the beginning it was so helpful to me, too. Leadkrm was (and is) a great source of support when everything was so new & a little scary. Exciting, yes. But also scary. It's by far the "biggest" thing I've ever done.
I have to push through each day when sometimes I really (REALLY) don't want to. But there are great moments that keep me going. Confidence builds a little more and more, over time. It's a process, for sure. And I am nowhere near the end... I don't think it will ever end. We are constantly learning, growing, and changing. And I love that.

There are several people in my cohort who did Chemistry online before they started the nursing program. I tried to do it along with our crazy first semester -- and that was just too much for my brain at that point! Lol. I'm not into Chemistry, but I did love micro ... so it all worked out. (NOW I say I loved micro ... I don't know what I said about it at the time here, because that whole semester was too much. 17 credit hours, I think? See. I've blocked it out already.)
