Ivy Tech Fall 2017 Hopefuls

Published

Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)

I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.

I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.

So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.

On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.

I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.

About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!

Leadkrm, thanks for all of the tips & advice. I really appreciate it.

Congratulations on completing your first semester & your grades! One nurse I know told me, "just remember, C = nurse". You did it ~ with two kids, a nurse wife, and less than 2 hours per week study time?! Well done! :)

Not that I would recommend only studying that little!!! Lol I guess what I'm saying is that the program isn't this impossible task that it's made out to be. It's completely doable and if you are capable of getting into the program, then you are capable of completing the program. I will say that taking summer classes is one heck of a schedule. Lol. Classes start Monday and I just got my schedule today. It is all over the place

Lol, I knew that was not a recommendation! :)

I did confirm that the muncie program goes through the summer, and she says everyone does it. So it didn't sound optional to me at all.

Can you share your schedule with us?

Sure. I think I can!

Pharmacology is 9am-2:50pm on Monday

Med Surg 2 is from 8am-1:50pm on Thursday

Clinical is from 6:30am-5pm on Tuesday and Wednesday

I also am taking chemistry online.

That is one busy summer, man! I look forward to hearing from you again in August. :) haha

I will try to keep an update on the summer. It's going to be interesting. I'm going to be ran ragged though.

Just came across this and figured I'd join in at the last minute! I'm extremely anxious about seeing what's going to happen regarding my application... overall I had a 140/160 applying to the Fort Wayne campus. My advisor told me that was competitive but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Fort Wayne program and if that's even enough. TEAS was an 85 and 55/60 on prerequisites.. still not feeling confident at all. :(

It really is helpful to have you here, ahead of us in the game. I was reading your post earlier & picturing our next summer like that. A lot to think about ahead of time. My boys will be 17 (!) (man that sounds weird), 13, and 11. Old enough to be home alone when needed ~ but that will be the first summer EVER with me gone like that. This semester they were in school, so it worked out to be no big deal.

Emernd, welcome!

You're not here at the last minute ~ we've only just begun. ;)

140 is a very competitive score. I can't speak for the Fort Wayne campus specifically, but I have read through every discussion here I could find. Lots and lots of people being accepted in the 130's.

I hope you'll stick around while we endure "The Wait" and I hope you'll be back with good news to share soon!

Oh trust me I'm sticking around! It's nice to see a little support network. And such a welcoming environment too. A lot of you guys sound like superwomen/men!!! Here all I can say is I work 40/hr a week and am a caregiver/medrep for my dad. But wow, kids and all and super competitive. Amazing work guys! Praying for the best for everyone :)

Thank you! I'm just glad I got what I got, I only had 3 days to study for the TEAS after my last final on Thursday then taking it Monday. Fingers crossed!
