Ivy Tech Fall 2017 Hopefuls

Published

Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)

I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.

I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.

So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.

On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.

I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.

About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!

Whew, managed a 96% in Psychology, so I got my "A" there, too. It feels so strange to be finishing classes...

Off to do some more studying!

Thanks to all who have posted here & offered your support.

I am waiting for the teachers to get their final grades in -- but I got all A's and will be applying with 152 points.

So relieved. We have had so much other BIG life stuff going on during this time. But I did it!

Congrats! You will definitely get accepted with that score.

Hi! I'm Heather and I am applying for the Ivy Tech nursing program in the fall. I'm shooting for the ASN program. I just took my TEAS test this morning and got a 75. I've gotten A's in all my other pre-req's and am currently getting an A in my anatomy class. My final for that is tomorrow. I've hoping to attend the Valpo campus and I'm starting to get worried that my TEAS test score won't be enough!

Hi Heather! Do you know how many seats Valpo has available? If you can do well on your final tomorrow and keep your A in APHY -- that will give you a score of 135 and I think that is pretty competitive from what I've seen.

On my application it said that there was only 20 seats for each, ASN and LPN. All of the campuses around me seem to only have 20 seats unfortunately. The only thing stopping me from completely loosing my mind is that two of the girls in my class who are also applying for the program in the fall scored less than I did on the TEAS and they aren't getting an A in APHY. I just don't know how competitive this particular program is, but I'm guessing very if there is only 20 seats!

Heather, I've read through old conversations and people were driving themselves crazy with the wait to find out. Are you taking summer classes? That may help to pass the time!

Best wishes on your final tomorrow. Please come back and let us know how everything is going.

And now someone just told me I had to have taken the TEAS by the 10th in order to be considered for the fall?! Has anyone else heard of that? My advisor said May 15th!

Heather, there has been a lot of confusion about when the TEAS has to be completed. If you look back through the last few pages of this thread, there was a lot of discussion about it. People are hearing different things from different advisors. Have you been on the application process yet? If your TEAS score is showing up in there then I would say you are good.

And I will just say one more time here, for the benefit of anyone who comes in the future. I personally would never wait until the last couple of weeks to do this exam. In my case, they had never seen a score of 100 before and it seriously took a couple of weeks to get that straightened out. My math score was showing up on the application as 10% when it was supposed to be 100%. I had to talk to multiple people before they figured out how to get the system to take my score. If I had waited, there would have been no time to straighten out any inconsistencies like this. We also need to be on top of making sure that instructors have grades posted on time, because if one of them doesn't post in time, the application will not be accepted and we are simply out of luck.

Fortunately my score did show up. Now I just hope my APHY score does as well. My professor said our final grades will be posted today. Thank you for your quick response.

No problem ~ and I am waiting on my APHY final grade, as well. My instructor has been a little behind on things... but he just can't be on this one. I will wait to start bugging him, but I can't wait too long!
