Took test 1st time: jan 25th
215 questions
failed-nearly passing in all fields except pharm
re-studyied, more questions, bought the saunders book, AND the Kaplan books
300 questions per day past 35 days.
read 3-4 chapters per night.
had wife AND friends who are all RN's quiz me..
Tommorrrow is the day, 8am..Fresno, Ca
Im ready.
Thinking about the first time i took the exam, i can now see clearly what i "felt" i did wrong. My mistakes.
#1. I didnt really "respect" the test. I figured i could pass a "minimum nursing competency" test with my eyes closed.
#2 I figured i would only get 75 questions, when i came to question 180 or so, i panicked and began to rush myself
--i later read on Kaplan, that the more questions you get and failed the CLOSER you came to passing
#3 I did NOT take any break, I was worried about running out of time, I should have taken a few breaks, i was there almost 5 hours.
tghis past month when i was studying i took a break after each 100 questions, i went washed my face, took a breather and returned to the questions--for me, that worked well.
tommorrow im going on breaks.
Im feel more ready now than i did the first time, I know i have done everything that i can to prepare for this exam,
I got my bob marley song "dont worry, everything gonna be alright", pictures of my family in my car--for the drive to fresno.
Bring it on !

Good luck on your test.
May I suggest before you go into the exam center, eat some chocolate and have some when you take breaks. It helps with brain functioning.
Oh by the way, I believe the name of the bob marley song your speaking of is title, "Three little birds". There is alot of misconception of the title of that song.
by the way did you read the entire saunders book? did you do suzannes plan?

good luck!
Well I guess I did the first part of "suzzanes plan", i did the quizes at the end of each chapter and scored over 75% on most of the chapters the ones i didnts i read the chapter and took the exam again, and moved on..i did the whole book..and i read the kaplan guide to the Nclex exam, + Kaplan questions+++ more books..::: sigh::: im tired,
I just want this all to be DONE..so i can "delete" all this "other" nursing stuff u wil never need again ..( i work the cardiac unit in the hospital) and just want to focus on learning everything cardiac and being the best at that.

HI do not panic. You went to nursing school and you passed. I took my test on thursday and when i was going i told my mind i might be presented with 265 questions, I was not cut off at 75 but when i did question 75 and did not cut off I kept going , be calm dont panic. Be prepared. You will pass trust yourself and God he said we will not be the tail but the head. I passed after doing 98 questions. you are in my prayers.

You will pass:) You did a lot. Just really focus on what the question is ASKING and DON'T READ INTO IT OR ANALYZE it. I'll be thinking about you. Good luck, drink some tension tea, it did me so much good before my exam. I'm also an anxiety junky for exams though:D
Thank you all very much,
