I'm struggling to get started on studying for my NCLEX PN. It's been 7 years since I finished school. I am unsure what or where to start. I have no motivation because every time I try to study I feel like I'm just going around in circles. I would like some input on what ya'll did to help you get started studying. Thank you
Yes I understand how you feel it's been since 2012 for me when I finish nursing school. But for sure please read / do fundamentals books. I took the nclex pn last month but I failed. It's a test that you have be prepared for ...what I am doing is I made a list of everything a LPN can/ do as a nurse every procedure...the steps. This all came from the fundamental book first quarter...they will ask you to put things in order by steps, so be ready for that I had about 20 things on my nclex test, a lot of meds for sure..Just get organized with a study plan and be ready...good luck
Try saunders too!.. i love saunders!... I graduated 2009 its been long.. but..here I am still trying so hard! to pass NCLEX.. when I read saunders I feel like im going back to my first years in nursing :) .. and saunders book is easy to understand i feel like I have an invisible teacher while I am reading this book.. its thorough and concise . Best of Luck to you ! :)
OP I'm so sorry for your losses. I think it takes courage to pick yourself up and move forward, so you are on the right track. For studying material, I definitely recommend Saunders. Their nclex books are great! Kaplan would be my other recommendation because their questions are so detailed and close to nclex, but the program is pricey.
LPN Procedures /Must know the steps
I would recommend first researching different review programs to find out which one works best for you. There are a lot of reviews that focus only on content, some that focus just on strategies and questions. In my opinion, I like a balance of both. Definitely make sure you research though!
I've been out of school for 2 years, failed the NCLEX-PN twice, but I found Hurst Review. I truly felt like I found gold when I found this review! It really does a great job with refreshing you on content, especially if you've been out of school for a while! For questions, I'm doing Kaplan's Qbank. I can say though using Hurst and Kaplan together has definitely made me feel at ease.
But whatever you decide to do, I wish you well with studying! Good luck and God bless. :)
