I wore cheap watches during school. A year ago I purchased and AppleWatch. I did so because I go through batteries so fast, say one or more a month. Being able to charge it when I sleep and not having to worry about it running down on me is great. I think it all comes down to which one you prefer. You may want to check and see if your school has a smart watch restriction.
They don't have any restrictions I think that is why it is so hard to chose. Do you wear your Apple Watch during work and everything? How does it hold up with washing your hands and sanatizing? I know I will be doing all different stuff during clinicals and I want something I am not going to have to replace every time you turn around.
I bought an 8 dollar watch from Target the day before I started clinicals. It had a second hand, it was a fun color and I only used it for clinical so I didn't care about it getting beat up or dirty. It lasted until about a year into my first hospital job. Money well spent!
I don't have an Apple watch but even if I did I would never wear it to the hospital for clinical, work or otherwise. Your hands are constantly getting wet, sanitized, dirty, banged into things (at least in my case but I am seriously clumsy) I would never want to subject such an expensive piece of technology to that kind of abuse. Nurses and students have been surviving for years without apps on an Apple watch, you will do just fine without one.

Hello everyone!
I am new to this site but I had a question. I am starting nursing school in August. I was wondering what type of watch to get. I know it has to have a second hand. But, some people have told me to get the Apple Watch. What are your suggestions?
