As a (former) bedside nurse for many many years I totally understand the need for a change. I am sure your experience will come in handy in the new role. Having a granddaughter in SE I know how important SE teachers can be for student and family. SE teachers are a blessing and we always need good ones. Congrats and good luck on the new endeavor!
I am so happy for you. It is amazing when people find the career that makes them sing.
My path was the reverse!!-- I have a degree in education and I taught school. While it was fine, and I coped with it, my heart was never in it. So I applied to nursing school, got in, and now I've been a nurse for a year and I am honestly excited to go to work every day.
You are going to love your new path.

I’ve been a bedside nurse for many years and I’m longing for change. I shadowed in non-bedside specialties and my heart wasn’t into any of them. I then shadowed a nurse practitioner and nurse educator, and they both expressed to me how miserable they were. I then decided to switch gears. I love special ed children, so I applied and interviewed at a local college with a program in SE. one of the requirements is shadowing a SE teacher for 20 hours which they arranged. My heart was singing during the shadowing. I know SE is where I’m meant to be for the remainder of my working life. I felt so happy. And the SE teacher loves her job. An added plus, teachers still get pensions :). I’ve officially been matriculated into the program. I start the program this summer.
