my acceptance letter! I got into the BSN program I applied for (provided I make at least a "C" in chem this semester).

My enthusiasm is a little dampened by the fact that I may not be able to go (money issues - quitting my full-time job, etc)... I had the same problem when I applied to rad tech school last year. :o

Now that's over, on to waiting to hear from scholarship applications... keep your fingers crossed for me! :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! :balloons:

Specializes in OB, lactation.

Congratulations!!

I hope you can at least get Stafford loans or something if the scholarships/grants don't happen. That's what I'm having to do since we apparently make too much to get grants (LOLOL... I don't think so, but hey...). I am just using my loans for school expenses (books, tuition, gas money, and childcare) but they gave me plenty considering that I don't have to use it for other living expenses.

Anyway that's great to hear and I hope it works out for you!

Thanks!

I'm busting my butt trying to get out of debt before July, so I think that will help. Problem is - I'm pretty much the breadwinner for my family (well, me and my 2 boys at least). So not only will my aid have to cover books, tuition and fees - but also living expenses (elec, water, grocery, phone, etc), gas for a 120-mile round trip commute each day, and daycare for both my boys. I'm REALLY worried, and looking into any and all available options! :o

Specializes in ER/Trauma.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! :balloons: :balloons:

I will keep you in my thoughts, I understand the $$ concerns, I will have to leave my FT job for clinicals as well, so alot of money will be gone. We have been planning for this day for the last year and 1/2, putting $$ away and paying off debt, but to know I will not be making money like I have been is SCARY!! In any case, you will be fine, and hopefully, I will make the leap with you!!

Lori

Specializes in L&D.

Woo Hoo! I hope things work out for you!

Specializes in Emergency Dept, M/S.

congratulations!! :balloons:

i will say a prayer that you get the financial aid and support needed to make this work. you've worked so hard, and it would be awful to have to decline the acceptance because of money.

start looking into any and all scholarships you can. your school's website, along with your state government website, should have listings of many, many of them. even your local library can help in that regard. there are sooooo many out there that go unfulfilled because no one applies.

have you filled out your fafsa form for this year? the sooner it gets to the school you were accepted to, the better off you are, and the quicker they can come up with a financial aid package for you.

again, congrats! :)

Manna.. You going to MUW?

thanks so much! i filled out my fafsa a few weeks ago, but i had to submit a special circumstances form about leaving my job/winning the jeep last year.... still waiting to hear back from that.

i got home and checked the mail too late today to call the fin aid office, but you can bet i'll be on with them first thing monday morning! we have to let the nursing dept know by march 26 if we're accepting the position or not, so the crunch is really on! :)

manna.. you going to muw?

yep, lord willing and the creek don't rise (oh, and if i can come up with the aid money too)! :rotfl:

i have visited there twice, and i really liked the school and all the people i spoke with were incredibly friendly/helpful - not at all like some of the real jerks i've had to deal with at the community colleges around here... of course i was there for less than half a day each time, so i can't speak about it long term or from a student perspective (yet)... their campus is really beautiful! :)

Yeah.. I loved MUW when I went there.... The campus is beautiful and there is so much history on that campus...

The people are great... I guess with it being such a small school it helps... I hope you have a great experience there. Where are you driving from?

Did you go to nursing school there?

I live in a little bitty town - Louisville - about 25 miles south of Starkville (down Hwy 25). About 50-60 miles from Columbus total (gonna be a helluva commute, but I have a home here with no payments/rent, so can't beat that!)

Well I was a nursing major.. But I ended up moving to Arkansas, due to my hubby (fiance at the time) getting a job here... So I never actually started there nursing program, but a good friend of mine graduated from there....

Yeah I always drove through Louisville on my way to MUW.. I am originally from Pearl/Brandon area...
