ISU FAQ thread

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

I thought it might be nice to have the ISU threads divided between an FAQ thread and one for current ISU students. Tweety's idea was to make the ISU Pt. Deux thread the current students one and make a new FAQ one. So if you have questions that are not answered on the first ISU thread then this is the place to ask them. :typing

Anyone here know of a college I can still take the A&P online? I missed the deadline for my local college. Any help about schools, tuition, and labs would be great. I do believe ISU only accepts this course with a lab. If this is wrong please let me know.

Thanks, this group is so great!

You can take the Excelsior test for it. That's what I did. I have the study guide still if you are interested. It has lots of highlighting and I did the practice tests though.

has anyone graduated or finished the LVN-BSN program from Indiana State University?

Yep. Me. Graduated and landed an ICU job at Johns Hopkins right out of school. In this recession. :)

chaxanmom,

is it true that you can only take one clinical class per sem? if so, how long did it take for you to finish? i just got accepted to the fall 2010 program. i've been reading a lot of threads with all your helpful info. i'm just so anxious to finish but i got discouraged that we can only take one clinical per sem. also, does isu offer winter and summer nursing classes? thanks :)

Students in California are limited to 1 clinical course per semester BY California...see near the end of http://www.indstate.edu/nursing/students/handbook/undergraduate-distance-info.htm

ISU offers classes all year round though summer options are sometimes limited due to budget (it is different than during the academic year, and what faculty are willing to teach.....see past schedules at http://prodinteract.indstate.edu/pls/prod/bwckschd.p_disp_dyn_sched

That wasn't the case when I was in the program but things change all the time. I took two pretty heavy clinical courses together (community health and high acuity...I don't recommend those two together. lol). I also took assessment and psych together which are both clinical but half the hours of the other two.

I bought TCN modules a couple years ago, and really never got started good on them, I am now very serious about getting done....I have so many questions, these posts, do help in so many way's though, I appreciate all of them, one ?? is as I start my modules, is there a particular order I should take??, and which one's need to be done before applying ? I am hinking of time wise, like at what point do I apply? and how long did you take to study?? haven't taken any tests, so not sure what to expect, and at what point did you take your TEAS??I spoke with someone, at ISU, and I looked at there site, but want to make sure I follow the right path..thanks so much for any info....

All of the CSMs must be completed before applying - see http://www.indstate.edu/nursing/programs/bs/lpn-bs/lpn-bs-admission-criteria.htm and http://www.indstate.edu/nursing/pdfs/testing-program-docs/nursing-challenge-exam-instructions.pdf
