Our school encourages the use of electronics and skyscape but it is optional. Before I drop $600, I would like to know if the tablets are handy in a school setting? Thanks.
I use my Ipad for EVERYTHING i do in nursing school. With the purchase of a bluetooth keyboard, taking notes is a breeze. I take notes on powerpoints, draw diagrams, access Blackboard, send files, etc. I can watch/listen to recorded lectures. My battery lasts a REALLY long time, no worry about finding plugs. I have most of my books as E-books. My laptop sits at home unused. Seriously, I just walk to school with my Ipad and a keyboard, that's all I need. It's fantastic.
Damos,
which version of the Ipad did you use when you were in school?
For the word/excel/powerpoints, I use "Box" on IPad which is free. It allows you to create, store, edit and save documents. You can also utilize the cloud storage where you can send documents from your computer to the cloud, then to your IPad.
Personally, I use my iPad for everything, my laptop has now gone unused for an entire year. The iPad is also more stabile on price where you won't see the price randomly drop. You also get automatic software updates from apple every time there is a new iPhone/iPad release.
It's just a matter of opinon, goto the stores and check out the different models :)
I have an Ipad with a keyboard. All of my nursing books came in electronic form, so I was able to load all of them onto my ipad... LOVED that I never had to carry around all of those books. I am fortunate enough to have a laptop as well. I used my laptop much more than my Ipad. Keep in mind that there are programs that cannot be used on a tablet.. such as microsoft word and flash player.
If you can find an inexpensive tablet it will come in handy in addition to a laptop, but I would not recommend using a tablet only.
