Hello: I need some help!! I've been out of school for 2 yrs and didnt take nclex right after graduation because of family issues etc. Took nclex this past april and didnt pass which left me depressed and scared to try again. Was wondering if it's possible to pass nclex after being out of school for so long? Was contemplating getting Saunders comprehensive review or Lippincotts does anyone have any thoughts or ideas? I was also going to get the book Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment practice exercises. I still have my handouts from school should I study that too? Im not sure exactly what I should do to be successful. I'm trying to build my confidence to do this again and would appreciate some input ..Thank you

It is possible. I graduated from school in 12/2012 and I have a friend that failed the boards 3 times she just passed this summer. I passed the first try. If you got to ncsbn (I think that's right) they have an online review that you can take for 50 dollars for a few weeks. That's the organization that writes nclex. Good luck, it can be done

Yes. Many people passed the NCLEX after many years of graduation. Life happened. Just as our faces are different so our situations differed. As long as your mind can conceive it then you can pass the NCLEX. It may be on the first attempt or more attempts but you can and will pass the NCLEX. Go for it!

Don't feel bad, I am in the same boat! I graduated in 2010 took NCLEX that summer and failed. Took NCLEX again after studying for 2 months and failed again. After my 2nd failure, I lost my confidence and I was disgusted at the fact that I worked so hard to get through nursing school and could not pass NCLEX. I have not taken NCLEX since 2011 and I am now preparing to take it a 3rd time after slowly picking my confidence back up off the floor (and two kids and 1 husband later). I decided not to let myself be defeated and I will pass this test no matter what! I am reviewing content using Saunders and practicing questions, lots of questions. I think that is where I went wrong the last 2 times I took it, I did not practice that many questions (other than what was in Saunders) and come to find out, Saunders questions are easy compared to actual NCLEX! So I use saunders questions to test my understanding of content and I'm using other sources for more NCLEX style questions (Kaplan, nclex 3500). I am also planning on purchasing the Lacharity book since I have heard so many good things about it, as well as the NCSNB review. Stay positive and keep your head up! I know it is hard cause it's hard for me, but in the end, hard work and determination will pay off :)

Thanks for the encouragement.. I completely understand how you feel...I lost all confidence in myself too and as time went on I had convinced myself that passing nclex would be impossible..then became depressed when I think of all the hard work and money put into going to school I cant just throw it all away...Im an older non traditional student and I really want to work as a nurse before its time to retire...lol..I feel better knowing I'm not the only one out there and you have given me a renewed hope too! I am going to get back into the grind and work hard on test questions out of a couple of resources plus also doing some ATI questions the website we used in school..Im also going to check into the Lacharity book and ncsnb review they sound like great resources too! Good luck to you too! We will be successful!

RedRoses you are not alone. I graduated since 2008 but because of situations beyond my control, I couldn't do the NCLEX-RN back then. In 2013 I was able to do it and I been fighting to pass since. I am not giving up on passing the NCLEX. I paid nursing school out of my own pocket by the Grace of God. I know I will reap the benefits and be a great RN. Don't give up my Dear Remember, the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong but to those who endures to the end.

I too have been out of school for 2 years now . I failed my nclex-pn the first time a few months ago. I studied everything for 3 month and still failed. What I did wasn't question only maybe about 80 to 100..yes I did the ncsbn 3 weeks which was great but I didn't use it right. I never had a study group because all my friends are already nurses now RN. Now that I am getting ready for my second test I am doing questions everyday..some days I get high scores but then other days I get low scores. I had near passing on most of my results from my last test . What I learned is to have some confidence in myself first and learn how to break down the question. People say it's easy you will be fine but they are not in my head. I want this so much , I am learning how to breath and let GOD take the wheel..Good Luck

Red rose, I am another non traditional nurse graduate. I have wanted to be a RN since becoming a teenager and I am now 57. I graduated last August and have taken the NCLEX twice. My 3 rd test is set for Aug 20 and to be honest I am scared to death.

I did Hurst the 2nd time and go near passing on everything but I ran out of time at 258 questions. My plan for the upcoming test is to turn off the clock until I go pass 75 questions. The first 75 I will answer my very best and pray to God he give me the questions I know the answers to limit he did St Joseph in Cupertino. I am claiming victory. Good luck and build that seed.

I recommend Kaplan. They have a very high pass rate. They may have a class at a campus near you. The class is 4 days long, but it REALLY helped me. You also get a large test question bank with diagnostic help, the ability to pick the subjects you need questions on and more. Please look into it!

Good luck on your next test!
