Hello!
God Bless you with all those kids! I am enrolled in a full time LPN program w/ 2 kids ages 4 and 2 and my husband works about 65hrs a week. It can be done. Just always remind yourself of the rewards in the end. Try to ask family and friends to help as much as they can so you can get through school. Where in PA are you? I'm in South Jersey. Good Luck!
YES!!! Absolutely!! Go for it!!
Nursing is a second career for me, which had always been the desire of my heart, but I'd never had the chance to go through with it -- until I was married, with 2 girls 3 and 8, and homeschooling them both while attending classes 3 PMs a week, plus every weekend of clinicals. The program lasted 18 months and I was the valedictorian of my class.
Don't doubt yourself... pray, ask for support from family and friends, and go for it!!!
All the best!

HI, when I started LVN school (Texas), my son was born a month before I had to start the program, he was barely a month old. My husband helped me tremedously (He would get up w/ the baby and feed him, change him, everything), he knew how much school meant to me, and also the reward in the end. A girl in my class had 5 kids, and she was able to do it, and many others were in the same situation;school and kids, some even had part-time jobs. We were all in a FULL-TIME program (12 months), and we all graduated and became LVNs, so yeah YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO IT!!!!
I was just wondering if any of you had experience with a part time LPN program? And if so, how doable was it with kids at home?I'm enrolled to start a p/t program in March, but I'm getting a little scared that I won't be able to handle it with kids at home. I have to go Mon thru Wednesday nights from 6 to 9:30 and every other weekend. My kids are 11, 7, 3 and 5 months. What do you all think?
Thanks,
Marci
I believe it is doable with kids. I have been in school since my younget was a baby. I started a LVN program last October. Somehow, it all works out. My kids are now 5 & 7.
The most important factors to making it work are being consistent and persistant with studying. Make time for yourself where you can quietly study without interruption. This means having a good routine. If you know you can get an hour or two in when the baby naps, unplug the phone so no one will side track you.
Good luck..and don't doubt yourself! :)
