Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I am thinking about taking Chemistry 101 and Anatomy & Physiology 1 in the Fall. Do you think it would be too difficult and too much work to take both classes. I also have a family too. My kids are in school from 8 to 3 every day. I look forward to hearing your responses.

Not too hard, depends on the teacher. I took a class that was anatomy and then I took the physiology the next semester. Easier IMO. Just depends on how on top of things you are and how well u do in the sciences. Good luck!

That's too funny I just posted the same question... and few were saying it'd probably be better to take it solo but if u know u can kick sci booty and can do what it takes then go for it cuz it has been done before...

I think it is possible to do this, if you are not planning on other classes.
Make a study plan, get a tutor for A&P right off the bat. At our school, we have onsite free peer tutoring which helped me through A&P.
Get a study buddy to review with you before exams.
Set up time with the family, that this is mommy's study time, and make it encorparted with the other kids if they have studying to do too.
Anything is possible if you put your mind to it!
Good luck!

It depends on where your academic strengths and talents lie. If you're strong in the sciences, you probably won't have any trouble with taking those classes at the same time. If you have difficulty with, say, chemistry, you might consider taking it with classes that play more to your strengths.
I'm an adult student with a spouse who works wild hours and a preschooler. Last semester I took A&P I with our nursing students, along with several senior-level HIM courses and finished with good grades and a good understanding of all the subject matter. This semester I'm taking A&P II, the first portion of an upper-level statistical methodology sequence, health informatics, and an honors literature course (just for fun), among other classes. Those are all courses that play to my strengths (though I'll admit to a little nervousness about the stats classes, as I haven't taken any math courses for several years!), so I'm pretty confident in my ability to handle them successfully and come out on the other side with a solid grasp of the material. Everyone is different. I was anxious to get into tough classes because I wanted a major challenge; however, many other people are more comfortable easing into school if they've been out of it for a while (and from your post, I'm guessing this will be your first term back in school).
It's really up to you and how you feel about the classes. Don't let anyone force you into taking a schedule that feels wrong for you. It's your money, your time, and your education - do what you believe you can handle! Best of luck to you. :)

I might argue that if you cannot take these two courses together at the same time then Nursing school might be too much for you.
I know that everyone is different but I would look at this as an opportunity to really get your study skills, time management skills, and mind working as it will need to be :)

Isn't Chem 101 a general pre-req to A&P? You definitely need to know Chemistry to go through that class.

I took A&P I and Chem I in the same semester. Followed by A&P II and Chem II the following semster all while working FULL TIME! It was chaos but I just wanted all the pre-reqs DONE! Its do-able...good luck!

Usually Chem is a pre-req for A&P...at every school I've attended or researched attending it is. I'm sure there are exceptions, though.
To be honest though, chem wasn't an important part of A&P for me. I took chem I 7 years ago when I was 18 and a college freshman living on campus away from my parents for the first time...let's just say my focus wasn't on my chemistry studies. I passed, but just barely, and retained nearly nothing. Yet I had no problem in physiology this spring...what little chem we needed was reviewed/taught as we encountered it, and I got an 'A' without struggling with chem at all. I'm sure every prof is different in their approach to teaching this material, but if the OP's school doesn't require chem as a pre-req I think it's safe to assume that her phsyiology portion of A&P won't focus too much on chemistry.

I took AP1 lab and lecture, Chem1020,Chem1020lab and DEP2004. its not hard it depends on a few things, how focused you are, the teacher, and developing study times. if you are able to get good professors (check them out on www.ratemyprofessor.com), develop study times and stick to them and realize this wont be forever its only 16 weeks and you can do this, u will do fine.
If you wanna rent your books for the term at a very low price, ill give you my coupon code to save very more money on textbooks!!
Hope this helped.

Super hard when you don't take time to study and easy if you read ahead of time and review a little bit everyday. Everything is hard if you don't study. It is doable. I took chemistry, gross anatomy, and microbiology (including labs) same semester and I did it. You can do it.

Like everyone said it depends on your strength when it come to the Sciences, but you also need to assess your ability when it comes to memorization. AP I and Chem 101 entails a lot of memorization.
I took them both at the same time, along with statistics. I did very well. Good luck.
