Is clinic nursing a dirty job?

Published

Hello. I was curious as to whether clinic nursing is a dirty job. I have no issues with blood, but I'm wondering if any of you clinic nurses have to deal with other unpleasant things. I still believe nurses are amazing given all the responsibilities they have. Thank you for all you advice!

How do you forget to take out a tampon for weeks!?

You should see what we used to find up there.

They actually said that?? You don't DIE from BV! It's like a lady partsl yeast infection, except it's also smelly instead of just itchy. You *certainly* don't need to drive yourself to the hospital for it!

Most cases of BV will go away on their own, if you can wait out the odor.

I think they were being Funny.

I started off in Med-Surg and now work in the MICU. Body fluids probably made me week in the knees for one or two weeks. You get more delicious sputum and stool in the ICU compared to the med-surg floors. It really is nothing after a while!

I kind of want to text you a picture I took of something we pulled out a few years ago.

That would certainly make more sense, wouldn't it?

Good lord. Was it breathing? Or once breathing?

No, but we were all quite impressed with the woman's pelvic floor musculature. She clearly was taught about the importance of kegels!

Please people....read my comments. I SAID that I am not thinking at this moment in my life to become a CRNA. Yes, it's an interesting profession and I did at one point want to job shadow. I still would like to do so. However, it's a loooong time from now to become a CRNA, so I don't want to focus so much on that anymore. Cosmetic nursing is when nurses do medical esthetics. You can find them working in medical spas where they administer botox, fillers, IPL and other non-surgical treatments. I agree that it's hard to find work as a nurse too but comparing it to other career sectors, health care is definitely more in demand, especially since the Affordable Care Act has been introduced. Sometimes you just have to take what you can get after you graduate, so I know I shouldn't be picky. That's not the only reason why I would want to go into health care though. I love math and science and took a health care course for three years in high school. I learned some nursing skills in that course as well.

That's interesting. I heard from a nurse that you would need nursing experience before being considered to work in the ICU. By "floating," you mean you did some kind of internship?

Thanks for your comment. I am assuming people here have perceived my question to be absurd but I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for career advice.
