  1. Ok. Thanks for the advice.
  2. Anyways, my question has been answered here so thank you :)
  3. Yeah, but I suppose history could repeat itself.
  4. I heard about a strike happening in northern California. Here is an article I found: California Striking Nurses Locked Out Of Hospitals
  5. No, it's not a homework assignment...just curious. I learned that their benefits are being cut and to fill in their places, managers higher travel nurses or transport them to other hospitals.
  6. I want to know all of your opinions on nurses going on strike. Do you feel like aspiring nurses should be worried when hearing of all these strikes going on? I just don't understand since nurses being the backbone of a hospital have to fight for their rights.
  7. Good point. Although, I heard from a male nurse that was doing clinical rotations in OB/GYN that the husbands weren't comfortable with him touching their wives, so some people aren't really open to it.
  8. I just feel like it would be uncomfortable for woman to have their reproductive organs checked by a male, but I don't want to sound sexist saying that. I think it's great that we have men in traditionally women's professions and vice versa.
  9. So, none of you work mandatory on call shifts?
  10. I did hear from people that volunteered at hospitals that they're usually on their cell phones, so they don't get too much exposure in how it's like to work there. However, I know it's better than nothing. I did watch several nursing skills videos on YouTube. EmpoweRN and RegisteredNurseRN are awesome YouTube vloggers!
  11. LOL! Thanks for sharing! I find it unusual that a male would become a GYN though.
  12. I wonder why.
  13. Wow. That's amazing that they would pay you $50/hr to be a secretary. I can understand your frustration since you're probably thinking to yourself, "why did I go to nursing school for?!"
  14. That's sad that nurses don't stand up for themselves sometimes. I feel like usually the mentality is that you should let insignificant situations go for your own sanity and to not waste time. However, nurses work extremely hard and deserve to be compensated accordingly! I hope things change for nurses. I was wondering why submitting OT on a regular basis is discouraged by management. Is it just because they want to save money?
  15. Thank you for all your wonderful answers everyone!! It's really helpful for me since I don't know any nurses in my personal life. This website is a very convenient way for me to connect with nurses.
