Is cheating a double standard?

Nursing Students General Students

Published

My nursing school took great measures to fix grades when not happy with outcomes. However, this nursing school took great measures to prevent students from cheating. They had a zero tolerance policy towards cheating and any students caught cheating would almost certainly be dismissed from the program. The clever, deceitful, and crooked way in which final grades were fixed at the conclusion of the final semester of the two year associates of science degree in nursing program was a grade fixing scandal of monumental proportions. I was dismissed from the program as a result of not achieving the 75 required to pass the final course of the semester only to have insider information disclose to me that 28 of 79 students initially failed the course with zero "A" students. Ultimately, only 5 unfortunate students including me were not passed and graduated and I strongly believe that I was used as a cover up by the school for their grade fixing scandal just so the school could make the outcome of the semester look realistic. Is cheating a double standard?

Time to move on.

The true, unaltered result of the semester was never disclosed to students but rather it only materialized after much investigative

work and valuable insider tips.

What are you trying to accomplish here, today? You seem to be really fixating on this topic.

Okay?

I'm not seeing a double standard here. A student cheating has no relation to the school changing grades.

A double standard would be something like two students turn in papers that are equally good, but one receives a higher grade because the person grading is from the student's hometown.

Now, is it upsetting that this happened? Definitely. Is there anything that can be done now? Nope.

I have to agree with other posters in asking what your goal is with this thread?

YOU just don't "GET IT". And that's the issue at stake here. The "fixed" passing standard was 75. Who knows what the real passing standard was since no changes to final grades were ever identified or explained. But one thing for sure, the "real" passing standard was well below 75. Without defining the passing standard as 75, YOU nor anyone else can prove I failed the course. (I was actually issued a final grade of 74.)

No you don't get it. No matter how low they made the standard, you still failed. You did so badly that even lowering the standards didn't lower them enough for you to pass.

Standard, what standard? There

was no passing standard. How can

you define a passing standard contingent

upon many unexplained and

unidentified changes to final grades?

Isn't winning a settlement from the school closure enough?

I would hope so, because unfortunately you should be able to see by now that you are not going to find the type of closure you are looking for here.

Your posts and this topic are getting redundant.

I don't know if you started this thread to amuse yourself or if you are truly still obsessed with the whole thing. If you are still truly obsessed with this and you can not find "closure" you scare me. Your thought process is irrational. Like others have stated "you just don't get it" and do not make sense. I know you stated you did counseling, but if you are for real, and allowing this stituation to still consume your life, then you really need to get additional help so that you can find closure in a healthy way.

OP-

If closure did not happen three years ago then you might want to consider that your expectations of "closure" is unattainable. Just because you did not succeed does not mean you cannot have closure. Sometimes "winning" is not closure..Do not waste a minute more dwelling on what you cannot change and put instead your focus on replacing your disappointment with a positive change in your life. THAT is closure. Acceptance and letting go, is closure. Maybe when your go back to school and prove to yourself that you can succeed you'll find peace.

I get the impression that maybe you were at war with yourself back then, not the school although I do not agree with their policy. Only YOU know if you gave it your all back then and studied enough. That might be why you are still looking for answers.. Don't give the past anymore of your energy. You are in charge of your own future happiness.

Put this obsessive behaviour into a healthy goal. Try again. Or try something else. But PROVE to everyone and yourself that you are competent and worthy of passing no matter what. Let the past go.
