Is anyone applying for or has applied for California State University, Chico State's nursing program? I'm planning on applying for spring 08 and just wanted to know what the cut off points were. I'm so nervous about the whole point system. I've calculated/estimated my total points and it seems like I should be somewhere in between 83-85/100 points. Does anyone know if that's good enough? I highly doubt that's good enough to get me in. I'm just sooooo stress out about never getting in a nursing program soon.
The school is not transitioning to a 5 semester program until Fall of '10. The spring '10 semester is canceled so the Fall '09 group is the last group of applicants they will take until the following fall. They are going to combine semester 1 and semester 2 I believe for the 5 semester program. So you would have 282, 283, 284, and 285. As far as classes go, I am currently enrolled in 282 and 283 and next semester I am enrolled in 284 and 285. I do believe that 2 people have dropped out of my semester class, so there are 2 clinical spots open. I'm not sure if they will let you enter as a second semester student taking 282, 283, 284, and 285 but I know we have space available. Hope this helps. let me know if you have any other questions.
the person i spoke with over the phone said they changing it to a 5semester program for fall 2010 and beyond, i dont think its the same for fall 09

Thanks for the info! Now, that answers my question. It's just that last time, the instructors told me they were planning for the transition of 5 semesters to begin in Fall 09... but I guess they decided to hold it off. Anyways, as far as trying to accelerate to 2nd semester... you're right, I'll have to take 282, 283, 284, and 285... which seems so very overwhelming and incredibly crazy, but hopefully possible. I'm okay w/ just starting out w/ 282 and 283... but the director offered to try to get me a clinical spot to be accelerated so that I would be able to finish the program faster... Which I also have no problem.. because I really don't have any other classes to take except my two theme courses.... and after all, I was supposed to be a Fall 08 nursing student.... But, I won't be able to find out until next month whether there is a clinical spot for me or not to be accelerated.... I hope there is a spot for me though... I just want to finish school as soon as possible... Oh... and what ever happened to 281? I remember I was enrolled in 281 during Fall 08... but is it not required now? And I remember in 281, we had to choose an elder patient and build a professional nurse-patient relationship to accumulate a certain required visiting hours w/ that patient.... and also we had to attend outside events to acquire multi-cultural experiences... Did you have to do any of that this semester? Or is it just all lectures and exams?
For some reason they decided to cut 281 from the curriculum. I think it might have been because the class really was a waste. I have talked to students from other semester's and they all said that that class was a waste of their time. So my guess is, the professors thought the same thing. We didn't end up being paired with an elder patient, maybe they thought that was a waste too, i dont know. So pretty much the first semester is just lecture and exams. We have only one tour in 2 weeks which is to a mortuary, but other than that its just go to class and take exam's. :) If I didn't have two other GE classes that I was taking with the nursing classes, I would be really bored. Haha. One of my friends is only taking the two nursing classes so she has class tuesday from 8-10 and then thursday from 8-12 and thats it. She say's she gets so bored all the time haha. Let me know if you have any other questions. :)
I applied to CSU for a 2nd degree and I got in, but my advisor said I am only a candidate for the BSN program. When I log in it says that my major is nursing. I'm confused, am I in or not!? I am taking the Bridge I this fall. Does anyone know how that class is. How is the admission process like? Do I have to fill out anything? I need to speak to a student over aim or something. Pls contact me! I'm so stressed out!
Did you apply to California State University, Chico or somewhere else? And do you already have a bachelors degree in something else? Because if you do, then you wouldn't have to do the BSN program you would be doing the MSN program. Also, when you say you log in and it says you are a nursing student, where are you logging in? I'm just a little confused. Thanks
