Hi - I'm currently in the course and can't believe how much time I'm committing to studying. Is this course the one that requires the most study time are are all nursing courses this way? thanks in advance for your posts...

I found anatomy to be one of the easy courses. I found pharmacology to tbe the hardest.

yes, it is & just one of them. Most pre req are hard, but once you get more and finish them , the more confidence you will have. Do not be discourage. anatomy requires a lot of memory work.:)

I have been teaching A&P for the last fifteen years. More than 80% of my students have always felt that A&P was most difficult during their course. Anatomy is hard facts and you have to commit to memory many things. Physiology is full of concepts. If you put in regular hours of study, there won,t be much difficulty.

In my country, degree in nursing( Bachelor of nursing) is immediately after high school unlike in USA where it is after, I suppose, undergraduate course. This may be another another reason, the students felt them tough.

I would say that I enjoyed but spent a lot of time studying for my A&P classes. I thought my writing courses were more difficult because they weren't straightforward at all and getting motivated to write a couple of research papers and other assorted stuff was really difficult. Taking Research Writing and Technical writing in the same term was one giant pain in the toukus. At least A&P made sense.

I could not agree more! I actually enjoyed my A&P classes; however, I did have to study a lot more. I also took my A&P courses over the summer, this had good and bad points. Good point was that was the only class I had to study for; bad point was I was in class and studying for what seemed like 6 days a week 10 hours a day with tests or quizes at least once a week.

Yes A&P I is a difficult class, especially if you are not used to learning as quickly as you need to do for A & P. That being said, once you are in a Nursing Program, you will remember fondly the days of A&P, Micro, Chemistry, Patho and Pharm, as these classes will seem like nothing compared to the amount of reading and studying you have to do for Nursing school just to pull a "B" on as exam.

For those of you who are waiting to take Patho and Pharm as a co-req during your first semester...a word of advice, if you can manage to take them before hand you will definitely benefit in a couple of ways. 1. Having completed those classes can improve your chances of getting into Nursing School by upping your total points for Admission; and 2. By having these classes already completed you will be able to focus solely on your Nursing courses, which is a really good thing to be able to do.

A&P is VERY difficult. Make it fun. I deer hunt and took a head (cut length way) and it's heart, liver, kidneys, lungs, and others. None of the other students had seen "real" organs. There was one student that had never even touched any. I had sacked up the scrotum and member ( all still connected ) and told her she had to identify all the parts prior to the test. She was failing the class. It turned out GREAT for all and we had a lot of fun with it. Best of luck!!

I agree that A&P is a tough pre-req course. The most difficult class once I entered nursing school was Pathophysiology. That being said ... once you get into nursing school and start your nursing classes ... you will think of your A&P days as "those easy days of pre-reqs"!! Nursing school is tough! I am a Senior (3rd semester of NS) and it is the hardest yet ... my Adult II (Advanced Med/Surg, Critical Care) course is about to kill me ... LOL!! Hang in there ... it all matters and learning A&P is just the first step!

Micro was most difficult for me but our professor was part of the problem. He would say (our class was all female) "don't worry your pretty little heads about this because you won't have to know it anyway". We soon learned that when he said this, first, it was a slam to our intelligence, but it would ALWAYS show up on a test. A&P 1 & 2 were a breeze compared to this micro class and this professors attempt to fail us all because we were female!

Specializes in Home health was tops, 2nd was L&D.

A&P can be tough but A&P2 is worse. I got A's in both but studied hard. Satistics and Pharmacology were much worse. Actual nursing classes are tough and many drop out..Learn good study habits.....Study smarter not harder!

I thought A&P II was so much easier than A&P I! I was told by my classmates that II was easier, and didn't believe them...but then I took it, and I realized that it is! Well, was, at least for me.

Before I started nursing school A&P was the hardest course I had ever taken. After starting nursing school pharm was by far the hardest simply because I had a hard time remembering all of the medications. It really depends on the person.
