IRSC Spring 2016 hopefuls!

Published

Hello everyone. I'm currently enrolled in my last set of pre-reqs for the RN program. In my microbiology classs, I noticed there is high anxiety because the applicant pool looks strong this year and 90% of my class are nursing applicants. I would like to start a support group, for passing along information, questions, advice, or just emotional guidance. We can all be nurses. We can all do it. Let's help each other get there! Does anyone have any tips for the NLN exam? Unfortunately, I have class and cannot attend the free review sessions.

Does anyone know if we have to have nursing listed as our primary major at the school? I applied to the program but it's not listed as my primary major. I wonder if I should change it at the school tomorrow or if it doesn't matter?

That was the same for me. It's very quick. You write your advisor and let her know you want to change your major to Nursing. Include your name, major intended, and student ID number. Then it should be done. I had to sent one to my advisor, Annette Bracero, and she changed it immediately.

Kristine, Are you going to IRSC this semester and getting financial aid? If so, you could loose your financial aid if you change your major to Nursing without first being accepted into the program.

Yes, I am going to IRSC and using financial aid this semester. I just didn't want them not to consider my nursing application because it's not set as my primary major.

I changed my degree from Nursing to an AA this semester due to new financial aid guidelines. I am changing it back if I get accepted into the nursing program. I am not sure when though because at first the acceptance is provisional. Maybe the nursing dept can answer your question. I believe you will be OK but not 100% certain. If not, I am in the same boat as you and many others as well.

Kristen, I had the same issue. My major was Nursing AS. Then I couldn't get financial aid so I went to my advisor and she change it to Nursing AA. So that I could qualify for financial aid which i am getting now so it won't matter at this point in the application process. Leave your major as it is. If you change it to Nursing AS you will lose your financial aid immediately and your classes will be dropped.

I called the Nursing dept today and they said a the mandatory meeting date has not yet been set...

Did you happen to ask when letters will be sent? I keep hearing different things

No i didnt ask, ididnt think they would disclose that information.I really wish i knew when thought!

If this semester is like other semesters.... then we should receive our letters this Friday!

Do the letters come in the mail too, or just by email?
