IRSC spring 2014 hopefuls!

Published

Hello all! I just wanted to start a topic for those of us applying to the 2014 ADN program at IRSC. I am so excited to finish my prerequisites and apply! LetsAll compare our application processes and wait to hear back from the program together! My names is Emily and I am taking a&p1 and micro this summer, then taking the NLN in August and submitting my app!

Tell me about yourself !

Currya, that is still a good score and is likely to get in. Fall 2013 class had people accepted with that score and that was before alternates. Good luck to you. I have been trolling this site recently. I am just so anxious, 6 weeks seems like forever!!

@Tlilavois: Thanks for the positive words! I know, it does seem like a long time. I'm going to try my hardest not to stress or think about it each day. It's easier said than done though! :)

Ok I took my NLN exam today. Got a score of 109. Not happy at all with it but it's okay cause I didn't put much studying in for it (had too much going on) so I can't be too upset. So that makes my total score for program 130. I still have 2 more classes I want to take so I will just try again next semester if I don't get in.

Question: I have Mirco & A&P done but I'm confused how their going to base their decision off points? They say you don't need Micro anymore to apply but they still use it in the point system, so I have a friend who is applying & he didn't take micro so he'll automatically be short points? So does he not have a chance? Thanks! :) & Congrats to all that took it & hope you all get in!

I don't think we'll have to wait too long. Fall 2013 had a deadline of 4/4/13 and their first accepted student posted on 4/17/13. I hope we get good news in 13 days too!!!

From what I understand he could still have a chance of getting in, but his NLN score has to be higher to offshoot the students that did take micro who get an extra 7-16 points.. I would say 150ish just to be on the safe side. Although if he does not get in this term he can take micro and try again next term and he will have the added points to his total. Good luck with admissions and you got a pretty good score considering you did not study. I hope I answered your question.

Kim, I hope you're right and we don't have to wait 6 weeks. I keep checking every day until then.

I am looking into the CPR class now. I want to take it this month and get it out of the way. Is anybody else taking it this month?

I plan on doing the CPR class on the 21st of September @ the main campus.

I was just trying to register for that one but I keep getting an error message. I will stop by my advisor this afternoon and have her register me.

brookie72, I don't know why I got the error message, but it did register me for the class on 9/21 @ the main campus. See you there :).

Please call me Brooke :) Are you going to the morning session or afternoon?

I had few questions so I called the nursing dept. I was told not to take the CPR course until I was accepted because you have a window of time to take it so that it is valid for entire time you are in the program.
