IRSC spring 2014 hopefuls!

U.S.A. Florida

Hello all! I just wanted to start a topic for those of us applying to the 2014 ADN program at IRSC. I am so excited to finish my prerequisites and apply! LetsAll compare our application processes and wait to hear back from the program together! My names is Emily and I am taking a&p1 and micro this summer, then taking the NLN in August and submitting my app!

Tell me about yourself !

I couldn't be patient anymore, so I call the school. I found out the the info on the application status only gets updated once a week, about 6am on Mondays. I had been checking everyday and that was a waste of time. So maybe that will save someone else so time and sanity :-)

Thanks for the info Robin. I would have been driving myself crazy checking.

It's not so bad when I have to go to class and/or work, the time passes... but on the weekends when I am around the house (still plenty to do with 3 kids), all I can think about is the 6-8 week wait for acceptance! UGH! I am getting ahead of the game in my online Human Development class though, actually enjoying the reading... not something I can usually say. Hope you all have a great holiday tomorrow... My husband (firefighter) is off duty, so I think we are taking the kids to the beach, hanging out at the pool and grilling for dinner... Looking forward to it!

You were correct Robin! MY application is updated with my NLN score this am :) I didn't think it would be, since it's a holiday... Have a great day!

Really Kim? My college level placement and computer competency is still not showing. I am finally taking the NLN tomorrow morning. Staying locked in my room studying today. We just came back from South Beach last night, so today is my last day cramming for tomorrow. I guess I have to go afterwards and talk to the Nursing Department for my computer competency and placement. I was told I don't have to take those because I already have a BA. I hope that is true. I guess I will find out after taking the NLN tomorrow.

Is anybody else taking it tomorrow or am I one of the last ones?

Congrats to all the new IRSC RN program applicants:) I just started the fall program a week ago and am loving it. I thought I would throw out some info. We only had 74 total people accepted for the fall. I did hear that last spring they took more for the Chastain campus but I don't know how often that happens. I got in with a 149 but I was an alternate and didn't have micro in my score. They had just changed the point system so more people probably didn't have micro with their scores when our class applied(they had previously said to save that class for last which a lot of people including myself did) Those of you with scores from 160 and up are most likely in! Congratulations:) If I were u I would start on my shots 'cause they are expensive and time consuming! Good Luck!

Thanks for the info LMB. I am feeling pretty confident in my score but you never know for sure. Did you do the titers or did you just go ahead and get the shots? I know I've had the shots but of course I have no way to prove it.

Thanks for the reminder... I just dug my shot record out of our safe... I kept forgetting to do that. I will schedule my appt for the rest. I had passed a computer course years ago that should jave counted as my computer competency, but I didn't my little green check mark until I took the test a month or so ago... it's free and it only took like 10 minutes, but I would definitely find out if you need it Jen915. My friend is planning on taking the NLN tomorrow morning, so you aren't the last :)

Brookie72... how did you do on the NLN? I got a 143, my fingers are crossed that it's enough... I have AP I & Micro done too... waiting is the worst!

Thanks Kim. Great to know. I will talk to the nursing department after I take the test. I might just take the computer test tomorrow as well. I don't want it to prevent me from getting in. Congrats on your score. You should get in with that. How did you do on your practice exams before taking it? I don't know how my practice scores compare to the real composite score. Somebody mentioned that they got the same on the real NLN as they did on the practice exams, but I don't know how a % on the practice exam compares to the composite score. Any idea? Enjoy your day and relax.

Scored a 144, so my total is a 176. The waiting is going to torture me. The lowest score that got in last time (without being an alternate) was a 156. It doesn't seem like we will have to wait 6 weeks. I looked at the Spring 2013 thread and they found out within 3 weeks. I really should find something to keep my mind off of it....I may be starting to obsess. LOL

brookie72, I guess we're all stressing, I am stressing before even taking the NLN. Happy to take it tomorrow and get my score. Great score. You shouldn't have to stress with that. I hope it doesn't take 6 weeks. I know I will be checking 10 times a day till I know.
