IRSC spring 2014 hopefuls!

Hello all! I just wanted to start a topic for those of us applying to the 2014 ADN program at IRSC. I am so excited to finish my prerequisites and apply! LetsAll compare our application processes and wait to hear back from the program together! My names is Emily and I am taking a&p1 and micro this summer, then taking the NLN in August and submitting my app!

Tell me about yourself !

I get so nervous thinking I'm missing something... It just seems like we should have had to physically turn something in... I would just die if I weren't accepted because of a technicality! Not a high enough score, I could accept, but a missing document would really hurt!

I feel the exact same way. I really hope it all goes smoothly. I need a vacation from all of this stressing. Deadline is tomorrow and I am already anxious. I'm pretty sure my husband is tired of my non stop nursing school talk. I guess that is why I turned you guys, others that know what I am going through!!!!

Wow. Scams on this forum;How annoying is that?....Anyway, the wait begins. I hope the emails come out early. Good luck everyone! Just think, when we started prerequisites how far an acceptance letter was from our emails, now only a few weeks away feels just as long.

Jessika1252, I believe it takes 4 semesters to complete the core nursing classes. I am not sure, but from what I have read(and I have been scouring the IRSC website for info for the past 2-3 months, lol) you can not "double up" the classes because they are linear. In other words, you learn one skill set in the first semester, and then you learn the next skill set, but you need the skills from the 1st section, too and so on for the 4 semesters.

Yes, it is crazy! I have crammed all my pre-reqs into one year... I have 3 kids, work in an office, sell Origami Owl jewelry and book keep for an excavator. My hubs is a firefighter, so I'm a single mom every third day too... exhausting to say the least! I am looking forward to seeing that light at the end of the tunnel... this process is disruptive to my family... although we are all on board and know that the end is worth the work! Good luck everyone! Tomorrow is the deadline... the wait is ON!

Kim I feel the same. I think I would fight a technicality. I was told by too many advisors I do not have to take the college placement and computer test but somehow it worries me. It seems there is a couple of us here with husbands and kids Tlilavois so we can whine to each other. We all understand :)

If you have things missing from your "application page" you might want to call. I had a friend who had something missing from hers and it needed to be fixed in the computer system. It only takes a few minutes and they should be able to tell you if their system is updated or not. I would hate to hear that someone got left out because of a technicality. I called the advising department and they transferred me to the health science department.

Robin, I just got off the phone with them. I wasn't on the list, that is why it was not updated. She checked my information and updated my computer competency and college placement, so I have all green check marks now. She also put in my NLN score, but it doesn't show yet. Valerie told me it might take awhile to show, but they run reports tomorrow morning since people have until 11:59 pm tonight to apply and then they run another check on Monday. She said to call her back Monday if my score doesn't show by 5pm tomorrow. She is getting all the scores from people who took the NLN this week today. I am relieved to finally have check marks on everything. I asked if my score is competitive and she said yes. They get about 300 applications and accept 70-80. 80 only if a lot of EMT's and Respiratory Therapists apply.

Lucky you Jen915. I called... they wouldn't look at my application or confirm anything for me... she seemed very inconvenienced... I'm sure they're busy, I understand that, but she could've been a bit more helpful. :nailbiting:

Ugh! I just called and got the same reaction from them KimKofke. "We have all of scores but they must be manually entered. It can take six to eight weeks." I know they are getting tons of phone calls from us over stressed applicants but it seems some of them are more helpful than others.

Sorry to hear that Kim and Brooke. I think it depends on who you get on the phone. When I went in after my exam on Tuesday the lady in the office was really unhelpful. That's why I didn't even bother calling them yesterday. She said it shouldn't take 6-8 weeks, they just tell us that to be on the conservative side. I told her someone I know who started this semester received his email 2-3 weeks after the application deadline and she said maybe 4 weeks. I hope it only takes them 2 though. If they run the report tomorrow and again on Monday they should know at least by Tuesday who gets in.

I just rechecked and my NLN score is still not showing. But people can still take the exam until 5pm today.

I have more checks on my application now but still no NLN. I sent an email and got the same feedback about calling Monday if it is not updated tomorrow. She also confirmed that all items are completed.
