IRSC spring 2014 hopefuls!

Published

Hello all! I just wanted to start a topic for those of us applying to the 2014 ADN program at IRSC. I am so excited to finish my prerequisites and apply! LetsAll compare our application processes and wait to hear back from the program together! My names is Emily and I am taking a&p1 and micro this summer, then taking the NLN in August and submitting my app!

Tell me about yourself !

I got a 146 on the NLN for a total of 178 with classes. I asked her if that was a competitive score and she said yes. So I hope she is right, but last semester people with a total score in the 150s got accepted. I don't know how we are supposed to wait weeks, I checked my email a few times a day already, even on the weekends :). I am so anxious, I want to know already and get started.

You are not alone I have been checking my Rivermail at least 2x a day. I can't wait to find out!

Thanks for the info Jen915—that is really good news! I know what everyone means about the waiting… I set up my Rivermail account to forward to my smartphone. So basically I check about every five minutes!! Hehe. Okay maybe not THAT much, but too much! It will probably be at least a few weeks I would imagine so I have to quit it!! And as soon as we know, we will all be on pins and needles to start the meetings and all that stuff. It's nerve wracking! I hope we all get in. Did I see a post on here a ways back about the first meeting being November something?

Yes, CaseyCake, the mandatory meeting is November 15! :) Does anyone know if the send out all of the notifications on the same day or if it is spread out somehow?

RobinKinchen, From what I read on the other forums, there letters were sent the same day for everyone. Alternates included!!!

Wishing I could have applied for Spring :(

Couldn't really find enough time to study for the NLN while taking micro in the summer.

Looks like everyone is scoring really high this time around though so I'm glad I didn't just try to wing it.

Good luck everyone!!!

My NLN score is still not showing. I will call again today and find out why. She put it in while I was on the phone with her on Thursday so I don't know why it is still not showing.

Jen915, I have the same problem. My score is not showing up as well. I emailed someone from the nursing departmenr so that I have a record of communication. She assured me that she has my scores and I am in the application process. If all else fails, at least I have on record that someone told me my scores were in the system. Let me know how l everything goes.

TLILAVOIS, I talked to Juliana this morning. She said that I got dropped from the limited application list when my advisor declared my Nursing as my major after I had applied. She talked to I think Valerie who said I am on her list and still in the application pool. She confirmed my total score and told me to just wait for the email on whether I got accepted or not. She told me I don't have anything left to do. So I will just wait and at least I have a copy of my score which is dated. I think that is why it takes so long to hear back. They really make sure to double and triple check everything

Jen915, what is the limited application list? Is that if your application is incomplete somehow? I'm so nervous! I should just sit back and study for the classes I'm in this semester, but it's hard to do!!

I just spoke with Juliana and told her that I understood that the last class had received their acceptance letters much sooner than the 6-8 week timeframe and asked if that was normal. She said that the reason they got their acceptance letters so soon is because the original application deadline had been pushed back and that they had to put a rush on getting students accepted. So, in short, it will probably be longer for us. She said it is possible that we could hear sooner than the 6-8 week mark, but not my the same margin as last class. Just to let you ladies know! I'm disappointed... I guess we have to chill!! ;)

I am looking into the CPR class now. I want to take it this month and get it out of the way. Is anybody else taking it this month?

Don't bother. They want you to take the CPR between specific dates to ensure your certification will not expire before you complete the adn program.
