IRSC Fall 2014 Hopefuls!

Published

Hey everyone! I know this is super early to be talking about the fall semester but I just got my denial letter for the Spring 2014 semester so I wanted to make this group for anyone that's applying or didn't make it in like me. I got a 109 score on my NLN exam which makes my total points for program 130. I took A&P I & Micro which accounts for my points. I would like to retake the NLN in 6 months & hopefully I can do much better. I'm currently enrolled in A&P II & plan on just studying my butt off for the nln in the process. Classes I have left before I'm done with all my "pre-requisites" are A&P II (which I'm currently in), Chemistry, and Nutrition. (which I plan on taking those in spring/summer). Maybe we can get a study group together eventually if anyone is interested! Best of luck to everyone! :)

Thank you annasmum. Another question, I was planning on doing my physical and tb on the 28th but I noticed that we have to have the tb results on the physical form. What are you guys doing to have both done in that period of time. Sorry for all the questions, I'm getting more nervous as the deadline is coming closer!

I'm getting my physical & TB test on the 29th then returning 3 days later to get the results. My doctor said it takes 48-72 hours to get the results so I would find out from wherever your going when you should plan to return.

Thank you sonny! Are you doing the tb skin test? Is the tb blood test accepted? I saw there's only two lines on the physical form: skin and xray.

I'm getting the TB skin test. I'm not sure about the blood test though :/

Suggestion: Buy the recommended Nurses Pocket Guide book.... You'll be glad you did when it comes time to write all the care plans!! :)

Does anyone know if we have to buy the Professor Nightengale test taking strategies? I am trying to figure out where the certificate they want printed is. I see there is some free trial on the website and then there is also an option to buy CDs and stuff, and is the completion form due with the papers by Aug 8th?

Also, is it mandatory that we do the TABE test at IRSC? If it is, do we have to take it before the paperwork is due on August 8th?

As an alternate, I don't know if I should I go ahead and buy the uniform because they said alternates could not know up to the very first day of school. I'm pretty sure I heard them say alternates should attend the first day of classes just in case they are accepted.

I am not sure but I seem to remember that they took the tabe test out. Certificate? Do you mean the building excellence profile?

Thank you annasmum, so no tabe test.

I am still trying to figure out where to go on the Professor Nightengale website for building a profile. It sounded like it was going to be free, so I am just going to do the free trial experience. Does anyone remember when we have to complete the Professor Nightengale? I don't want to waste my free trial if it is supposed to be used during nursing school.

I was told at my counselor meeting to take the tabe test as soon as I can

I am going to have to check with them. I could swear mine said the opposite. It is recommended not compulsory. Just asked the nursing department

My counselor said it was strongly recommended. But I don't remember hearing anything about a certificate for the professor nightengale website.
