IRSC Fall 2014 Hopefuls!

Hey everyone! I know this is super early to be talking about the fall semester but I just got my denial letter for the Spring 2014 semester so I wanted to make this group for anyone that's applying or didn't make it in like me. I got a 109 score on my NLN exam which makes my total points for program 130. I took A&P I & Micro which accounts for my points. I would like to retake the NLN in 6 months & hopefully I can do much better. I'm currently enrolled in A&P II & plan on just studying my butt off for the nln in the process. Classes I have left before I'm done with all my "pre-requisites" are A&P II (which I'm currently in), Chemistry, and Nutrition. (which I plan on taking those in spring/summer). Maybe we can get a study group together eventually if anyone is interested! Best of luck to everyone! :)

I also got a denial letter. I have finished all of my prereqs but only scored a 107 on the NLN. I am currently taking College Algebra and will take a humanities class and history class next semester and I will be finished with my A.A degree. I am excited about that because then as soon as I get into the RN program and complete it I am going to go straight into my BSN. Good luck to all and to me lol. Hope to see you all soon. Oh and yeah its never to early to start a group.

I decided not to attempt the NLN for Spring 2014 due to not finding enough time to study for it while I was taking micro during the summer. Looking through the practice book kind of over whelmed me and I knew I wouldn't be ready. I plan on attending the practice sessions at the campus this time around and hopefully that will help the anxiety. Not looking forward to the wait we have ahead of us but hopefully it will pay off!

Hi guys! I'm currently enrolled in a&p 1 and mirco plus both labs! I'll probably take the NLN in Jan or Feb for the first time (which i'm very nervous about!!) and apply for the Fall 2014 nursing program! The only pre-req I have left to take is a&p 2 and lab! Any advice on the NLN? Good luck! :)

Hey I'm just checking back in. I'm going to be taking A&P II this coming Spring semester. I was seeing if anyone would be also & interested in getting a study group together??

Sorry to ask again but is anyone taking a&p 2 upcoming spring semester? Thx

Hey guys! Thought i'd write an update since it's almost the new year! I got 3 months to study for the NLN. I'm going to re-take it in March - got a 109 the first time i took it this yr so I'm hoping to do much much better this time around. How's everyone else?

Are you planning on retaking the NLN?

Hey Jessika!!

I am starting to study for the NLN and take it for the first time. Is there any areas that you would suggest to focus on more than others?

Ok let me start this again lol my comment got erased! I would say it depends more on your strenth/weaknesses. My weakness is math so i had to study way more in that section. Verbal- I would say study as many words & definitions as possible. Science - is a mixture - a few chemistry/physics (ive never taken either class but you don't have to just do the practice tests for those), anatomy 1 questions (i took this class 1 semester before i took the NLN & thought i did't need to study that section but i forgot a few things so brush up on that), & biology (brush up for sure - i think most of the science ?'s came from this). Hopefully this helps you :)

Thanks for the info!! There is so much vocabulary to learn and I thought that would be the easy part .

I am getting really excited to get the application process taken care of, but terribly nervous at the same time. I will be crushed if I do not get in! The nerves are making it hard to focus when I try to study for the NLN. Is anyone else experiencing that?! :banghead:
