hi everybody!
it may be a bit early to start a thread for a program starting in spring of 2013, but i'm so excited and thought why not! anyways, i was enrolled in the adn program at irsc this past spring, but due to medical reasons, i decided to leave the program. now that i'm getting healthier i decided to get my cna license this fall and re-apply to the adnnursing program that starts spring 2013.
i learned a lot about irsc's nursing program, as well as the nln exam, so if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment because i would love to help out!
good luck to all of you!

congrats to everyone who got in! I also received an alternate position....(I am currently finishing Micro this semester). Does anyone know how often alternates actually get in? I am certain it varies each semester depending on other's circumstances though...I guess it's more "waiting" for me!
OMG! I also got accepted!! I really didnt get my hopes up as I have been applying for many terms. I also got denied and wait listed and it gets frusterating! I was sick of waiting around with all my pre -reqs done I was wasting time. I did my LPN at medvance strictly for the added bonus of making money and having more skills then without. I can say I am so glad I did, having that got my foot in the door to irsc. I know many of you are in the same boat as I was but hang in there, it is possible to get in and while you are waiting start studying now for the next NLN if you need to up your scores. I also learned if you wd from a class re take it with a good grade it signifcantly raises your gpa as opposed to just aceing classes. I know people talk down about medvance and I was not a fan either but when you are desperate it does not look so bad. I passed my boards the first time as most of my class did as well. I cant speak for now but few years ago I did not have a struggle finding a ob as they help if you need carreer placement. Good luck guysand hang in there........to all the students attending the mandatory meeting we need to get together and form a support system as these next few months to years are going to be a crazy, exciting ride. OMG Still in major shock! Also the November orientation...does anyone know what that is for or what will be needed then? I am sure they will cover it all but so excited I want all the info NOW!
Congratulations boobear0299. Hard work and deligence always pay off. If you have a dream you should always follow it regardless of the obstacles. I know we have to attend the mandatory meeting in October on the 10th. The ADN information packet stated that mandatory orientation is on Friday November 9 at 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm. I also heard that registration for the Nursing Fundamentals is in November. You are absolutely right we should try to form support systems because this is where the real work begins. Again...Congratulations
Hi. I got accepted to Spring 2013 semester at IRSC and BCC. I am in a rush to choose a school by IRSCs October 10th deadline. I'd love a compare/contrast between the 2, but I'll settle with someone telling me what the schedule is like for IRSC! Or BCC for that matter. I have 2 babies and I stay home with them. I dont think I can do IRSCs daytime schedule, and BCCs program is nights and weekends. I am PRETTY sure of these 2 facts, I just havent seen anything official and I'd like 'official' before committing to one or the other!
Hi AbbyCook81, Congratulations on your acceptance. I am a mother of 4 children so I know it can be difficult. Based on the fact that you stated BCC program has nights and weekend class so that may seem like the best fit for you. You did not say but which commute is better for you? Hopefully some students who are in the program already can give you more feedback about the IRSC Nursing Program. Good luck to you on your decision.

Etjvn723, I understand your position. You have to do what you think is best for you. I agree with you regarding some people choosing nursing because of security. This fleeting fancy will pass and seperate the real nurses from the ones who are just in it for the money. I chose this career path because I had two preemies and was fortunate that they are normal healthy children. I feel that it is my destiny to give back and to be a part of an elite team that cares for the well-being of those sick and in need. You go an do what you need to do so you can pursue the career of your dreams and I wish you all the best.
