IRSC ADN Spring 2013

U.S.A. Florida

hi everybody!

it may be a bit early to start a thread for a program starting in spring of 2013, but i'm so excited and thought why not! anyways, i was enrolled in the adn program at irsc this past spring, but due to medical reasons, i decided to leave the program. now that i'm getting healthier i decided to get my cna license this fall and re-apply to the adnnursing program that starts spring 2013.

i learned a lot about irsc's nursing program, as well as the nln exam, so if you have any questions feel free to leave a comment because i would love to help out!

good luck to all of you!

@JDsGirl I'm so glad to hear that everything is all cleared up! Congrats on your acceptance :)

CONGRATULATIONS Bizzimommee !!! What a big sigh of relief for you!

@JDsGirl Thanks .... but not celebrating yet. Wish I knew how many alternates they notified! They say that notification of acceptance could be as late as the first day of class which is in Jan.

Congrats to everyone that made it in! Very excited for all of you. I didn't make it, with having only 200 points. I really wasn't expecting anything different, but can't help feeling disappointed. I will try again for Fall 2013 and will have all classes completed at the end of this semester, so my score should be significantly higher for the next round.

Good Luck to all you and Congrats again!

I know how your feel reg4fun69 but prepare for the next round...and am sure your will ace it...

PDowling I will see if I can get some feedback on the alternates situation and let you know. I heard that the alternates who do not make it for this semester definitely do the next round.

I encourage everyone who posted on this thread to give feedback and support when you can to help others in thier quest for their RN Degree.

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum but I just wanted to see who else applied for the 2013 IRSC Nursing program. I am happy to say I was also accepted and look forward to meeting some of you at the orientation!! Congrats to you all!!! :)

Congrats to all of you that made it in the program!! I'm sorry to say I didn't get in. Trouble is I'm not sure what I can do to better my score as I'm already done with all prerequisites and I don't think I can score much higher than the 129 I got on the nln. Might try with medvance next.....

My overall score was 250..... 103 for classes and 147 for the nln. I have 3 pieces of advice......

1. Complete close to ALL prerequisites before applying. It makes a HUGE difference in your score! The nursing dept likes most of the classes done too because once your in the program they want you to focus on the nursing program, not the prerequisites.

2. The nln....... practice! Practice! Practice! Definitely not a test you can study for in a week. Find a study buddy, go to the asc lab. Irsc has a ton of resources and patient people waiting to help so use them!

3. Don't give up! If becoming an RN is truly your dream then evaluate what you did wrong this time around and work to fix it!

Congrats to everybody that made it into the program!

@Etjvn May I ask what your overall score was? Before you resort to Medvance seek help with IRSC admissions counselors and see if they can help guide you to more points. Also, if they cant help, check with the nursing dept directly 462-7570. An IRSC education is worth the wait if you have a chance to improve your score for the Fall program. Medvance does not have the reputation you want when appling for jobs after graduation.

[COLOR=#003366]elenita_07, Congratulations and welcome ,

[COLOR=#003366]Etjvn723, I am sorry that you didn't get in. 129 is a good score, you scored in the 91st percentile. However, if your scores from your prereqs are not over 100 it puts you in a position where you have to reach for a higher nln score. As [COLOR=#003366]jessicaleighbob, correctly stated you have to study for more than aweek before the exam. I actually studied for over 2 months a little at a time. I read the book in its entirety and it has a lot of information to cover. Some subject areas such as physic you may have to dig a little deeper by looking up more info and diagrams. For example the parallel circuit and series circuit. The book defines these but there are no diagram or indepth information on them and you have to look up a little more info on theses. You get scores based on your answer choice on the nln. There are answers that are just wrong and you get no score for that, usually two answers are close and you get scores on any of the two, the best answer you get full scores and the second best you get a partial score that is why they curve the scores. I do not know what your grades are for your prereqs but if those are not high you have to bring up you score on the nln. Do not give up, stay focused on your goal and do your best. Another thing I should mention, do not study the night before your exam, relax you mind, dont worry about what you remember and what you dont, it will all come back to you in the exam when you see the questions.

[COLOR=#003366]PDowling, I agree Medvance should only be a last resort. Palm Beach State can be a back-up option, but they use the TEAS there. IRSC is definitely worth the wait and is more cost efficient.

For all persons accepted please remember that the mandatory session is on Wednesday October 10th at 3:00PM. Remember if you do not attend you will not be accepted into the program. See you there:up:

I appreciate everyone's input. I would have loved to go to IRSC, it is more cost efficient however I don't have the time or the grades to compete. I have seen so many new nurses come in that have chosen nursing as a second career. People who already have bachelors and masters degrees in other disciplines. Not all of these people but some don't really have their hearts in nursing but the security it provides. I have been working side by side with these new nurses and its frustrating that I have to sometimes teach them clinical skills that they don't know yet and I can't get my foot in the door to get a degree. I spoke to keiser university on Friday and although its expensive I think I have a better chance of getting in. My oldest will be starting college in less than two years, I need to be out before she gets in. Wish me luck!
