IRSC ADN Program Spring 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hello Everybody!!

I'm applying for the 2-year ADN program (starting Spring 2012) and thought it would be helpful to start a thread and conversate with other ADN hopefuls!

I have nearly all of the pre-reqs completed (except for Chemistry) with all A's and 2 B's, and I'm also currently studying like a mad woman for the NLN exam, which I will be taking in the next month or so.....It would be great to hear back from other applicants (and students already in the program) to see how my stats (and others) match up.

Thanks and good luck :)

Best advice i can give you for the NLN is relax! You know more than you think! :) Good luck!

I am pretty sure they calculate the total points by the percentile, not composite. And in that case, yes, total possible is about 220. 219, since percentile max is 99 :)

It's a trip that's for sure! lol

I met a girl trying to get into the program, and it was right before finals and I was at a Dr's appt with 50 books, binders and flashcards having a frustrating day. She asked me if I was in NS, and told me she was applying. I told her, "be careful what you wish for."

LOL...when we walked out my husband commented on how rude...

It is a lot of work, I have spent a lot of nights crying, but it's totally doable, and worth it in the end. Right? Right!

Chic - I e-mailed Ms. ******* for clarification because I was also unsure if it was new scoring or still out of 99 total possible points. She stated it did change, and they are looking for the composite now, and you can get a total of 200 on the NLN.

Nomijen - I know someone who also got in this last time, and she posted a picture of her books on FB and it looked like quiet the stack!!! I already warned my husband that if I get in, he might want to stay clear the first semester because I'm sure it will be crazy until I get my bearings and schedule set :). Doable is good!! And yes, you are totally right, worth it in the end!! You'll do great!!! Good luck and keep us posted on how things go for you!! :redbeathe

UUUUUUUUUUGH. Books blah. lol

I think I was close to $1500 with books ( I did get some optional ones though) and uniforms.

So I do have some to borrow if someone is in dire straights!

Awesome!!! I always get optional ones too, just in case because they suggest for a reason, so I'd rather be safe than sorry. Good luck to you, I know you're going to do great!!!

I'm glad to not be the only optional book buyer lol!! I am truly a dork at heart, and each subject I study I want to know EVERYTHING!!!

Doing great so far! But we are getting to the hard stuff...so we shall see :D

Sunshine_SM,

Thanks for clarifying the point issue. This is news to me.

:igtsyt: It should be posted on the nursing webpage.

Anyway, good luck to everyone.

When should we expect a letter? End of September-mid October? Does anybody have an idea?

Is the IRSC RN program a 2 year continuous program or can you take courses only in the Fall & Spring?

Fall, Spring and Summer 1.

I took the NLN today and I'm glad its over. I'm in my last semester of classes for micro, nutrition, and human development so those points won't count. Does anyone know when we should receive receive our letters? It has to be before November because they have a mandatory meeting for those accepted on Nov 18th. The wait is going to be horrible.

Good luck to all of you!

Seems like we got ours sometime in October maybe??? Let me see if my letter has a date

The deadline to apply closes this Thursday, the 8th, and it states we should receive our letters 4-6 weeks after. I'd think we'd get the letters about mid-October. Very exciting!! :)
