Nursing Students General Students

Published

How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

Hi, my name is Shannon. I am 21 and a senior nursing student at Avila University. I hope to graduate in May and I am not sure how I feel about that. Part of me is excited and the other part of me is terrified. I am hoping talking to people will help.

I don't know, anything at this point will probably help.

hi all! i have been lurking for a while, finally got up the nerve to post for the first time. i am 28, and my man and i have no kids (unless you count the furry ones!). we have 3 cats and 3 chihuahuas (hence the username) due to the fact that i used to work in a vet hospital. i am not in nursing school yet, just getting going on the prereq's ( i already have a degree but i need a few more classes before i apply). i have already learned so much from just reading the posts. i think this will be a great resource for me, thanks in advance for all the help!

welcome, shannon! vent on "us" anytime. i kind of know how you feel. i too will graduate, prayerfully, in may too and although i am already a nurse [lpn], i am still "scared" as finishing rn school nears. guess it is normal.

all the best to you and each of us!

Hi, I'm Judy, LPN Student (January) 31, married for 10 years, I have a 5 years old boy. I'm going to be an LPN (with the help of God!) on December 2004, and later I'm going to try for be an RN. I'm from Puerto Rico, and now I live in Upstate NY. Spanish is my first language, but I can speak english too. I decide to be an LPN because my son is disable and hospitals are my second home. Many nurses and doctor told me "Why you don't try to be a nurse, you are going to be a good one" and here I am. Good luck to everyone!!!:balloons:

I started to have my BSN, but with my High Risk pregnacy I quit. Now I have the opportunity, no for be BSN (I took 2 years), but for be an LPN, and I'm happy with that. This was my desire, since I was a little girl.

Hello everyone. My name is Kim I am a 30 year old currently working in finance as an analyst in Chicago. I completed my bachelor's in business....it took me 8 years but I did it in night school. Only problem is I am not happy!! I am not digging the high pressure corporate cut throat atmosphere and the number crunching. I don't regret my degree, it was a wonderful platform I guess but now I am working on starting some prerequisites before I actually apply for an ADN program. I started out as a pre-nursing student right after high school, somehow I got off track and I am trying to get back to my first career instincts. I look forward to participating on this discussion board! Good luck to you all.

I am Stacy Cochran. A the present time I am taking an EKG Technician Course, and next quarter I will begin the Phebotomy course. These courses will hopefully be enough to land a position at one of the major hospitals in the Columbus, OH, area. I really have no other way to pay for this on my own, at Columbus State Community College, and life has thrown me some really terrrible curveballs lately.

The only thing I find intimidating is the anatomy courses, but, sometimes one just has to say "suck it up and drive on". Hopefully everything will go my was for a while.

I don't know about you folks, but I sure as hell can't get through this stuff on my own. I would like to get together and study with come of you forlks if you are interested. My e-mail is [email protected]

Hi, I'm Chris, Mom to 3 boys, 12, 9 and 2, wife to one great husband. I'm ending my first semester of the clinical portion of my LPN program, if all goes well I'll be finished and ready to take boards in July 2004. So far, so good. This is really tough but I think I'm going to love being a nurse.

judy, kim, stacy, chris, and cristina, welcome!

My name is Kim. I'm 29 years old and the mother of three (#4 due in April 2004).

I hope to start the nursing program (ASN) in the fall 2004 but I'm taking two preq. in the summer quarter. My baby will only be 6 weeks when I start back to school.

I've been a SAHM since Feb 2002 but it's time to move on. I've always wanted to be a nurse. I'm interested in nutrition and women and children's preventative care.
