  1. The reason I ask is b/c I've been told that RNs typically handle more paperwork and desk work than LPNs. Also, after having three dks I never remember seeing a RN bring in my lunch tray or showing me how to work the bed, phone, TV, etc. It was usually a nurse's aid or LPN. On the other hand, a RN delivered (no dr. there yet) my third child and she made rounds with the dr. With my second child a RN (great nurse BTW) stayed with me the entire two hours and was a great help. She started my IV, etc. but after the delivery I didn't see her again. Can anyone explain the "typical" duties?
  2. I think dinner every night and weekend dates are plenty. I've got three dks and I don't get that much "private" time with my own husband. We rarely go out on weekends and he works the entire time so I'm at home with the dks. Dinner is usually just one interruption after another. We get a little time after we put the dks to bed but we're both so exhausted we fall asleep on the couch. If your bf feels neglected now then you should seriously think about it before or if you ever decide to have dks. I feel he needs to be a little more understanding. I bet if the situation were reversed (as in my situation) he wouldn't think HE was doing anything wrong and he'd just expect you to get over it. Good luck and I hope things get better.
  3. Thanks AmyLiz. I registered this morning to take the test Jan 16th. I've been looking over the study guide and my dh helped me with some of the math last night. Math is not my strongest subject, by far. I haven't taken any of the biology/algebra or A&P classes yet. I'm just hoping to pass the test the first time around. If I don't then I'll just wait until after I've taken my Bio 103 and Algebra class in the summer. I also bought the "cliff note" books for Biology,Chemistry and Algebra and I'm reading through them too. Ok, maybe I'm going over board but I really want to do well. I felt overwhelmed at first but I've got two months to study and my dh is an engineer so he's really good in math. Babysitter is graduating this semester with a BS in Biology and my SIL is at Auburn studying to be a vet so she's a whiz at Chemistry. Are the vocabulary words really obscure like the way they are in the study guide? Thanks again for the info. Wish me luck.
  4. I'm suppose to take my test on January 16th and I just got my study guide yesterday, boy was I shocked. I've always considered myself of average intellegence but this study guide might as well have been in Russian. BTW, it's the NLN study guide "english" version. Does anyone has experience taking this test and if so...is it really as hard as the study guide practice tests? I spoke with a friend (she never took the test) and she got the idea from the new students she works with the test is sorta like an IQ test not a test where they actually expect you to get all the answers right (thank God). I'm still worried, please help.
  5. This is my first post here and I'm so glad I found this bulletin board. I'm the mother of three (#4 due in April 2004). I will hopefully start the nursing program fall of 2004. I will be attending CACC (Alexander City/Childersburg) campuses and I'm very excited. I need to encouragement and experience of everyone here to help me along since I know it won't be easy. Glad to meet all of you.:)
