How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Hi! ;) I am new to the site. I am currently in school for my BSN ( have ADN). I have 2 dogs and 2 rabbits and am married. I am taking one class at a time and working FT on peds unit. I am a little overwhelmed at times with the work and especially learning everything about computers (I've been out of school 13 yrs) but overall it is exciting to be learning new things again.

Nice to meet you. I don't have kids, so I give the people with them a lot of credit for going back. Are you also doing the RN to BSN? I still feel very "green" at times, especially taking exams and doing papers online. The younger students are way better at that than I am. I am learning new things everyday and have gained more computer skills than I ever thought I'd have. Right now I am taking a 6wk summer course Nursing Research which to be honest is not very exciting so far. Nice meeting you!:)

Hi! I'm Kathleen, 51 yr. old mother of three kids in college and was accepted into the LPN program! I'm scared senseless, but thrilled at the same time!

Hi I'm Sandra I am currently a 51 year old travel agent. I wanted to go back to school about 3 years ago but because of kids, (single parent) work, and debt, I had to put my goals aside. Now I have just completed my FIRst pre-nursign class with 4 years to go. My kids are all grown up now with my youngest 14 year old still at home. I am SO Nervous about this new adventure that I have. I researched different options for years, and nursing seems to fit my needs and wants totally. My future goal is to somehow mix travel in with my nursing degree. i am aware that I can do alot with nursing such as working for major Movie lots ( I worked at WB for 7 years, and several places within the travel industry such as cruise lines and resorts. I am just anxious to get this ball rolling because I am aware that it does not matter how much education you have it's nothing without that experience, at least 5 plus years.......so is there anyone else out there that decided to make a career change after 50? I still look to be in my early 40's but that does not make me feel any less worried..............

Question of the day!!!! Is there life for a 51 year old nursing student ?

Hi, Kathleen!

Congratulations for getting accepted into an LPN program. I am 40, and have 2 kids (11 and 14) and just started my LPN a week ago. So far, so good! You can do it--you'll be fine!

Take care,

Hi all,

I am Olga, just got into a 2 year RN program and thrilled about it! I am 25 and finally get to do what I wanted to do for so long - be close to people and medicine. I am married, working FT, and hoping to be able to keep up with it all!!!

My name is Nora, I am 36 y.o., I have a very cute 2 year old daugther. I started my part-time adult learner RN-BSN program last September in CT. Now I am thinking of switching to the accelerated program that will start in July and finish next August.

If anyone has experience with accelerated Nursing Program - please, let me know how it feels, I am scared of 18 credits of Med-Surg I, Med-Surg II, OB and Pedi during the Spring semester... :uhoh21:

Thanks!!!

Hi yall! I am Kayla and I am a 2nd semester BSN student at a school in Kentucky. I also work as a nurse tech. I am the daughter of a nurse and have always wanted to be one because of all the stories I use to hear at the dinner table. I plan to work in Women's health or NICU upon graduation. Good luck to all!

:welcome:

hi everyone,

I'm Sharon, 34 years old and attend Widener University's BSN program in Chester county, PA (though I live in northern Delaware). I already have a BA in English and an MEd in Health Promotion so I only have a handful of pre-req's left before I start my nursing courses (unfortunately it's all the scary ones - chem, micro, stats...). I'm so excited!!

I also have 2 daughters, a 5 year old and a 1 year old.

Nice to meet you all.
