Hello second interview tomorrow for Endoscopy nurse this time with GI physician. Any advice? What to expect?

Hi was wondering about malpractice insurance for an RN. Any recommendations? Thoughts on necessity?

I did the exact same thing. I did case management and felt the same way you did. I was a secretary, social worker, case worker, lawyer, whatever job someone assigned me and I was rarely seen as a nurse. Back at "lowly" bedside but, am glad to be back at it!! Bedside is tough and exhausting at times but, can be very rewarding. Got to look at positives throughout your day. There is always those patients that will make you smile and actually say Thank You! I have been working as a case manager in acute rehab. In a few weeks I am returning to floor nursing and I can hardly wait. I don't feel like a nurse in this case management role. I am more like a social worker/secretary. Asked to solve unsolvable problems,tell patients that they probably have to go to a nursing home etc. Just to name a few issues. Doctors and even fellow nurses tell patients I can "get them disability, get certain DME covered which is not covered by insurance, and fax stuff for them even though anyone can utilize the fax. Oh, don't get me started on therapy. Our therapist are wonderful but, tel ME that the patient will need 24/7 (which is usually not possible), tell ME the patient is not making progress and I have to be the one to talk with the family and patient with the bad news. Then the family and patient gets mad at ME because the therapist has been telling them how good they are doing. I am the designated bad guy. I was a floor nurse for six years and I was never this stressed out or unhappy with my job as with CM

Any more opinions or info? Does anyone know of any hospitals that have salary RN's

Know that some RN 's are payed a salary vs per hour. I need some feed back. How does this work ? Do you get compensated for the extra time nurse stay after shift to chart or for pt issues? How about overtime when staffing I short? Do you like it? What kind of floor do you work? Thanks for your input.

I I posted this question on another forum but want as much input as possible. I am a bedside nurse and am paid salary based on 36 hr work week. Does anyone else work salary as a bedside nurse? If so do you like it? Any advantages? Any input is great. On my unit we are fighting it and I want as much info as I can get going into a meeting with admin.

Mr Chicago We are given what our per hour rate is based on 36 hr/wk. my salary is what I am to make a year working 36 hrs. They do pay use our per hourly rate for working extra days or time we sign up for. But as many nurses know you often stay later than your scheduled time to finish charting or following up on a patient who is having issues . We do not get paid for that. 1/2 an hour hear and there adds up. Believe me I wish I would leave 7:30 on the dot but that doesn't happen. We do not get time and a half for working over 40 hrs. No mandatory overtime so far. Thanks for the feedback!

Would like some input regarding being a salaried bedside nurse. If you are salaried do you like it? Do you get adequately compensated if you work over 40 hrs? Does it make you fell more"professional"? Any input would help. I am salaried and so far am not to fond of the time I am technically not getting paid for when I stay late to finish work and charting. My salary is based on a 36 hr work week. Thanks for your input

I agree with crufflerjj, a simple thank you for your interest but the position is filled or no longer available. I had a interview and was told by the nurse manager to call the recruiter to schedule a share day. I ve called and emailed and have heard nothing. Does this mean they aren't interested? I have done everything I was suppose to do. Application,resume,cover letter, thank you note etc. You would think a little common courtesy would not be too much to ask. It is very very fustrating.

Hey Amanda, We are not the only ones. I talked to another girl I met during orientation and she gets he same thing. She emailed the teacher too and has not heard back. I think he on vacation he said something about it during the first orientation. I have been looking up the words in a medical dictionary also. I don't have my mosby yet it is being shipped right now. Oh well! Maybe he will postpone the quiz if everyone is having the same issue. thanks for responding Lisa

Hi. for anybody who is starting fundamentals next week I have a question??? Mr Mcnamara said we needed to go onto web ct to get the definitions for the vocabulary list for the quiz. When I log onto webct I can not access the course. It says access denied contact your instructor. I email mr M and have not gotten a response. has anybody else gotten the list from web ct. Maybe someone could email it to me. I would be very grateful. TIA Lisa
