How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

Hi everyone

I'm Yasmin. 19 years old no children. I am in an ADN nursing program.

I am new in nursing and just recently finished my intro to nursing class.

This fall I will start my second semester which will be my first nursing class with a clinical. I'm here and any advice on what to do and expect for your first clinical would be helpful. Thanks

I am not 'new' to allnurses but it has been a long time since I posted anything. I do keep up with a few threads and browse now and then. I starting my 4th semester of ADN program in August. I was originally supposed to graduate in may this year but had to repeat my third semester. It was devastating at first but I was glad I got the opportunity to repeat. I have a better grasp of the content taught. Anyway I don't know how much I will post now but I am here and I do read a lot of what is posted. And I love the new layout of Allnurses. THANKS Sue

HELLO, ALLNURSES!!!!

I'm 20 years old, no kids, and anxious to start my ADN program at Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana. I'm looking forward to what NS has to offer, and I hope to hear from all of you soon!!!!

CONGRATS TO ALL ENTERING NS STUDENTS!!!!!!!!!!!:balloons:

I have a question for ya! I have my BS in Bio-chem and I want to get My RN. The question is what do I need to do. Start with an ADN or can I go for a BSN???

Please help

Thanks!

In most cases you can go for your BSN. You just need to check the course requirements for BSN at the schools you'd like to attend and see what lower level courses they require that you may not have taken as a part of your previous degree. If there are any, you may need to take those first, but they shouldn't amount to much before you can just begin your nursing courses. I also know that there are some accelerated BSN programs out there that are completed in a year for people who already hold Bachelor's Degrees. That's something else you might want to check into. But since you already hold a Bachelor's I would definitely go for a BSN instead of an ADN. That's just my opinion though. Whatever you decide to do, good luck to you!!
