Hello, Everyone!

My name is Laurel. I am 40 years old, married with two children (ages 11 and 14) . I am starting an LPN program (that will actually give me an associate's degree) on June 25, and I'm excited and nervous.

This is a second career for me. (In my "previous" life, I was a teacher). I have always wanted to be a nurse, and now that dream is going to come true!

It's great to "meet" everyone!

Hello everyone! My name is Renada and I am a 48 year old (yikes!) mother of 4 grown children. I am now at this late date persuing a dream! I have been a CNA since 1991 and I just finished my LPN (NCLEX in Aug) I will have my ADN in May, WOW! I have been working in a small rural hospital for 8 years and will continue there when I graduate. I cannot imagine how it is going to feel for me after all of these years to walk sown the hall at the hospital where I work with RN on my badge. It gives me chills just thinking about it!:nurse:

Renada, that's wonderful! I've got chills FOR you! I think that's how I'm going to feel on my graduation day. I've dreamt about this for 19 years and tried to return to school a few times, but "life" kept happening. Now I've been accepted into an RN program and so many miracles have brought me to this point. Sometimes I have to pinch myself!

Good luck with all you do! What kind of nurse do you want to be?

Jarofpennies, Best of luck to you also! This is certainly an exciting time! I will be a staff nurse at the small rural hospital where I am now employed. A rural nurse does everything... OB, Med Surg, ICU, ER, Trauma etc. Thats why I love rural nursing, you never know from day to day what you will be doing. The hardest part is keeping up all of your certifications needed in each area! Oh well, I love the challenge.....
