How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

I'm Chelsea. I'm 20 years old and currently awaiting acceptance into the BSN nursing program at the University of Louisiana-Monroe (Class of 2009). Just the traditional "new" nursing student! I aspire to work in L&D one day. That about sums it up! Best of wishes to everyone!

Hi everyone! My name is Brennyn. I'm 22 years old and I live with my boyfriend, a meteorologist with the national weather service, and our two cats and two dogs. That's right it's a ZOO over here. I'm in my second semester of a 5 semester BSN program at the University of Texas at El Paso. This semester consists of Foundations of Nursing, Nursing Care of the individual (Med/Surg) and Research/Statistics (yuck!!). I also want to wish everyone the best of luck in school, I know it can be frustrating. :)

hi im an ADN student finishing up my first year YEA! I have onemore year or 2 more semesters to go whichever sounds quicker. lol I have a disabled hubby and am 37 years old. I work 33 hrs/wk and go to school full time hard but I do what I have to do. Nice site here nice to know all the issues and or problems are same everywhere.

Wow amazing how many of us are the same. I am also 37 with a husband who is partially disable dueto an accident at work. I am finished with my first year in two weeks YYYYEEEEAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I though I should finally introduce myself instead of just lurking in the shadows :). My name is Stephanie, I am 23 and finally got accepted into the nursing program at my college. I've waited nearly 2 years. Mainly because I wasn't sure if I wanted to go the MD route, or RN route, I had both options in front of me. I found that being an RN could open many doors without the hardships and schooling that being an MD would take. Bad enough I already feel like a professional student. I have a mini support/study group with 2 others at work who all got accept and we are taking the same classes. I hear that helps, misery loves company.

Looking forward to reading more, and hopefully sharing some of the things I start encountering once I start in September!

Hi. I'm in the 2nd semester of pre-recs!!! Killing me too. I have 4 great danes and 4 horses. No kids, the animals are my kids. :lol_hitti I'm going for my ADN at Charity School of nursing. I'll start the transition program for LPN's summer of 2008. Seems so far off. I had to take all pre recs cuz I'm sooooo old!!!!:lol_hitti Good luck to all!~!

Goog Morning Vietnam!!!! Only kidding :-) (but I love the movie!). My name is Ernie. I am a 43 y/o LPN with 3 1/3 years under his belt. A father of a 3 y/o boy and a 4 y/o girl. (I started late)

I worked in a SNF for my first 3 years as a nurse (a real stressed-out, hate my life - sweat-house of a SNF). I have now worked 4 months of full time in Hospice - and just love it.

I can't do the tradtional community college nursing programs.

Not only is there a 1 to 2 year waiting list, but I need to support my wife and family. How can I be a husband, a daddy, study, go to school 4 days a week and work 4 days a week, in a 7 day per week world? I have all my pre-reqs out of the way from the local CC's by taking 2 classes at a time. Now I am torn between the University of Phoenix' LPN-BSN program at $23,000 (My employer will pay $5,000 of it), or Excellsior College. I estimate Excellsior will run between $10K and $11K, including airfare, room and board to study for the CPNE and then to take it, testing materials, study materials and other little things.

None of which would be covered by my employer. Only to end up with a questionable (in some states) ASN. But boy, it sure would free up a lot of time and still be cheaper in the long run. Very Tempting! Anyway, I would love to hear from anyone who is in the same boat as I am in. I feel really alone out here. I can be reached at [email protected]. Please, no sales reps!
